Created through the generosity of Anne Badgett Smaldone, a dedicated nurse who spent many years serving others, this fund helps foster a stronger partnership between Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville and local community colleges while investing in future healthcare professionals. The program supports nursing students as they pursue an Associate Degree in Nursing and begin their careers serving our community.
Program Benefits
Eligible participants may receive funding for:
  • 100% of tuition, fees, and required books for a Community College Associate Degree Nursing Program
  • Educational expenses paid upfront based on submitted bills and receipts from the college
  • Additional educational resources associated with nursing education, including materials that support academic success and professional development
  • Assistance with obtaining employment as a Registered Nurse upon successful graduation and licensure

Student Requirements
To qualify for the program, applicants must:
  • Be accepted into a Community College Associate Degree Nursing Program
  • Complete an employment application through Baptist Health Deaconess Careers
  • Submit semester grades and remain in good standing within the nursing program
  • Successfully complete the nursing program
  • Commit to working full-time in a bedside nursing role for six (6) months for each semester funded through the program

Participants who do not fulfill the employment commitment will be required to repay program expenses.
