Job Description: Events Seasonal Assistant Manager
Reports to: Marketing Manager   |   Department: Marketing โ€” Events
 
Position Summary
The Events Assistant Manager leads strategic planning, project management, and community engagement for all Kitty Hawk Kites events. This role owns the event calendar end-to-end โ€” from concept and partnership development through execution oversight and post-event reporting โ€” and supervises Events Team Members to ensure smooth day-of execution.
 
Key Responsibilities
 
Strategy & Project Management
  • Own the annual events calendar and project timeline across all event types
  • Plan and structure each event from concept through execution, including budget, staffing, and logistics
  • Set and track milestones for event readiness, ensuring deadlines are met across signage, marketing materials, and partner coordination
  • Identify new event opportunities aligned with brand and community goals
Community Engagement & Partnerships
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners, sponsors, and local organizations
  • Manage donation requests and fulfillment for community events and causes
  • Represent Kitty Hawk Kites at community functions, planning meetings, and local partnership events
  • Maintain listings and event information across local tourism and community partner platforms
Team Leadership
  • Supervise, train, and schedule Events Team Members
  • Provide on-site leadership during events, including troubleshooting and decision-making
  • Support onboarding of seasonal event staff and interns
Reporting & Operations
  • Track and report event expenses
  • Deliver post-event summaries and performance reporting (attendance, engagement, lessons learned)
  • Manage distribution of marketing materials (flyers, rack cards, adventure guides) across event and store locations
  • Coordinate with outside distribution partners as needed
