Description
The Graphic Designer is a key member of Red Hawk Communications (RHC), and is responsible for developing creative, engaging, and brand-aligned visual communications that support the mission, programs, services, and strategic priorities of Catawba Valley Community College (CVCC).
This position serves as a steward of the CVCC visual brand and creates compelling content across print, digital, social media, video, environmental, and promotional platforms. The Graphic Designer works collaboratively with the RHC team and campus partners to translate communication and marketing objectives into effective visual solutions.

Executive Director of Red Hawk Communications
Examples of Duties
• Lead visual design and brand stewardship by creating high-quality, brand-aligned creative materials and ensuring consistency with the College's visual identity across print, digital, and environmental applications.
• Create and produce multimedia content, including photography, video, motion graphics, and digital media, while collaborating with the Red Hawk Communications team on campaign execution and institutional storytelling across College communication channels.
• Engage in cross-training across Red Hawk Communications to strengthen team capacity, support continuity of operations, and provide assistance in other functional areas of the department as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned in support of Red Hawk Communications, College priorities, and institutional needs.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Strong knowledge of graphic design, branding, typography, and visual communication.
• Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud and industry-standard design and multimedia tools.
• Experience creating content for print, digital, social media, and video.
• Strong creative judgment, attention to detail, organization, and project management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively while managing multiple projects and deadlines.
Qualifications
Minimum: Associate degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Digital Media, Multimedia, Marketing, or a related field, with relevant professional experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience. A portfolio demonstrating strong design and visual communication skills is required.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Digital Media, Multimedia, Marketing, or a related field. Additional preferred qualifications include experience in higher education, agency, nonprofit, or institutional marketing.
