Position Summary - 12 Months

The Planning & Supply Chain Intern will support the Planning organization by leveraging data, analytics, and cross-functional collaboration to improve operational performance across manufacturing and the supply chain.

Working alongside Planning, Manufacturing, Procurement, Engineering, Finance, and Logistics teams, the intern will gain hands-on experience in demand planning, supply planning, production planning, inventory management, capacity planning, manufacturing analytics, and Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP). The intern will develop analytical tools, improve planning processes, and support data-driven business decisions that enhance customer satisfaction and operational performance.

This internship is designed to prepare future leaders for careers in Supply Chain Planning, Manufacturing, Operations, Business Analytics, and Operations Leadership.


Key Responsibilities

Planning & Supply Chain Support

  • Support demand, supply, production, and inventory planning activities.
  • Assist with forecasting, production scheduling, and capacity planning.
  • Balance customer demand with manufacturing capabilities.
  • Monitor inventory levels, material availability, and supply performance.
  • Identify supply risks affecting production and customer deliveries and recommend mitigation plans.
  • Support inventory optimization initiatives.

Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP)

  • Assist with monthly SIOP activities through data preparation, reporting, and analysis.
  • Prepare planning reports, KPI dashboards, and executive summaries.
  • Analyze forecast changes, supply impacts, and capacity constraints.
  • Support scenario planning and business reviews.
  • Participate in cross-functional planning meetings.

Data Management & Analytics

  • Extract, consolidate, validate, and analyze data from SAP, manufacturing systems, Excel, and other business databases.
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity across planning reports and dashboards.
  • Develop standardized reporting tools to improve business decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities to automate reporting and improve data quality.

Dashboard Development & Reporting

  • Design and maintain dashboards using Power BI, Excel, or Tableau to monitor key operational metrics, including:
  • Forecast Accuracy
  • Inventory Levels
  • Production Performance
  • Capacity Utilization
  • Schedule Adherence/Attainment
  • Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
  • Customer Service
  • On-Time Delivery
  • Scrap & Yield

Present actionable insights through clear visualizations and executive-level reporting.

Operational Performance Analysis

  • Analyze planning, manufacturing, and supply chain data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Support root cause analysis for forecast variances, inventory shortages, production delays, and downtime.
  • Develop leading indicators and predictive analytics that improve planning performance.
  • Quantify operational improvements and track business results.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Planning, Manufacturing, Procurement, Logistics, Engineering, and Finance teams.
  • Participate in daily production meetings and monthly SIOP reviews.
  • Translate business challenges into data-driven recommendations.
  • Support initiatives that improve customer service, inventory performance, and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in:
    • Supply Chain Management
    • Industrial Engineering

    • Computer Science

    • Engineering
    • Or a related discipline
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar visualization tools preferred.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of SQL, Python, or other data analysis tools is a plus.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and teamwork skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
