POSITION OVERVIEW Position Overview: The internship position will be with the Collier County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller (Clerk), Office of Inspector General (OIG). This internship position is specific to the Public Integrity Unit's Guardianships Section within the OIG. The purpose of the OIG's internship program is to provide an opportunity for graduate and undergraduate college students to gain insight into OIG operations and experience the Clerk's role in providing financial oversight to guardianship cases.
The purpose of the Guardianships Section is to perform audits, to include enhanced guardianship audits, as defined by Section 744.102(2), Florida Statutes (F.S.). Pursuant to F.S. 744.368, an audit is completed on the initial and annual guardianship reports to provide oversight of the management of financial resources for individuals (e.g., elderly persons, minor children, and incapacitated adults) within Collier County, as defined under Florida's Guardianship Law
This internship will provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the Guardianships Section's role in auditing guardianship assets by supporting the audit function and learning the statutory requirements along with reporting to the Court. In addition, through the course of the internship there may be opportunities to attend court hearings and acquire knowledge in other OIG functional areas outside of the Guardianships Section. All college students must be in good academic standing to be eligible for this position.

Key Responsibilities: Assist OIG staff with guardianship case management system maintenance. Review court documents and filings.
Assist with and prepare reports for OIG staff. Perform supervised preliminary audits of guardianship reports. Support other units within the OIG (Audits & Contract Oversight Unit, and Public Integrity Unit - Investigations Section), as applicable.
Maintain confidentiality of guardianship records in accordance with F.S. 744.3701. Compensation: Interns will not receive monetary compensation
