Job description

Salary: 18.00 - 20.00/hour

ABOUT OUR INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Our Internship Program goals are centered around providing meaningful benefits to our interns as well as our organization. Following our program, you will gain an overall understanding of the different managerial processes regarding construction management in both the field and the office. You will observe and participate in all aspects of construction management that are typically encountered in the construction workplace. By the end of your internship, you will also have gained a network of industry professionals and possibly receive a job offer from Stonebrook Exterior to join our team.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS & ELIGIBILITY

The internship program is open to upcoming senior college students studying a relevant field of education. I.E. Construction Management, Construction Engineering, etc. The student must have a valid drivers license. Stonebrook Exterior will provide housing advice; however, it is up to the student to find and pay for all housing-related expenses.

HOURS

Our Internship Program runs year-round. Start and end dates will coincide with the interns school schedule. The internship positions offered during the summer months are considered full-time positions. Expectations would be for minimum 40-hour work weeks and more if additional time is needed.

WORK ATTIRE

Interns should dress in appropriate attire depending on job duties. While in the office, appropriate attire includes: casual jeans, shirt, shoes, etc. While in the field, interns will be expected to wear jeans, shirts with sleeves, boots suitable for a construction site and all safety program required PPE.

WORK PLAN

  • Construction Management Interns are strategically introduced to the construction process starting in estimating. While in estimating, you will be exposed to plan reading, takeoffs, estimating, and contract execution.
  • Once you become familiar with the pre-construction process, you may be assigned to a project or projects in the field. Here, you will observe and participate in the various aspects of actual construction.
  • Job assignments will be based on company workload and your interest. Once a good understanding of the field construction process is in place, you will finish by being teamed with a project manager and get exposed to contract management, scheduling and subcontractor relations.
  • Interns whose educational background and interest lies in other areas of construction can be introduced to other aspects of the construction process as well.

PAY

BluCor Construction Group offers pay for interns while they go through the internship program. The typical pay structure is based on an hourly rate. Pay rate is based on relevant experience.

ORIENTATION

In an effort to ensure our interns do not get lost in the busy shuffle of the construction process, you will be assigned a Mentor. This mentor will advise you on program expectations and goals for your internship. Also, your mentor will make themselves available to you for consultation as questions arise on work assignments. They will monitor your progress by assisting in reviewing time sheets and also help perform the final evaluations at the end of your internship.

In order to insure you get off on the right start, your mentor will execute a formal orientation process on your first day. In that orientation the following items will be covered:

  • Internship Agreement
  • Staff introductions with applicable directory
  • Tour of our office(s)
  • Tour of jobsites (If applicable) * Meet our Director of Safety PPE Assignment (If applicable)
  • Assigned a workstation (If applicable)
  • Review Responsibilities Expectations Policies and Procedures

DIRECTOR INTERVIEW

As an intern, you will be given a very hands-on experience during your time with BluCor Construction Group. The hands-on time is invaluable. However, to continue to try and provide value to you, each intern will be given the chance to sit down with one of the Directors from the company to ask pertinent questions. This gives you the chance to ask about relevant job skills needed after school, relevant experience attractive to employers, or any other question that might come up.

EVALUATION

At the conclusion of your internship, you will be given a formal evaluation by your mentor and supervisor. Although ongoing feedback will be provided as required, this final, formal evaluation gives you a post internship program evaluation that explains areas of success and potential growth opportunities.
