Position Summary: The Coordinator of Interns and Volunteers plays a pivotal role in enhancing the organization's volunteer and internship programs by overseeing the recruitment, onboarding, and coordination of program placement of volunteers and interns. This position requires a dynamic leader who is outgoing and shares a passion for community service. The volunteer and intern coordinator will demonstrate ability to cultivate relationships with diverse groups of people. The ideal candidate will be highly self-motivated, organized, community-oriented, and creative.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Training Department to implement training programs for interns and volunteers to ensure they are well-prepared and informed.
  • Lead the full cycle of internship coordination, including prescreening, interviews, onboarding, training, placements, and support throughout the internship.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for interns, supervisors, and academic partners to support intern success and resolve placement or performance concerns.
  • Lead recruitment initiatives that are centered on attracting new interns and volunteers by fostering community and college partnerships.
  • Manage databases to track intern and volunteer activities and engagement.
  • Lead efforts in recruiting volunteers through various channels, including social media platforms, community events, and outreach programs.
  • Collaborate with program directors to coordinate volunteer schedules.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment for volunteers and interns by providing ongoing support, feedback, and recognition.
  • Collaborate with other departments to identify volunteer needs and opportunities within the organization.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of volunteer programs, making recommendations for improvements as necessary.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse group of volunteers and interns.

Requirements
Education
  • Associates Degree required
  • Bachelors Degree in Communications, Human Services, Business Administration preferred
  • Extensive relevant experience may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement

Experience
  • 1-2 years of proven experience in volunteer or internship management or related experience required
  • 1-2 years of proven experience demonstrating a strong commitment to community service preferred
  • Driver's license and ability to maintain insurability throughout employment required
