Help Power the Future of Connectivity with Omni Fiber

Preferred Locations: Port Clinton, OH | Columbus, OH | Allen, TX

At Omni Fiber, we're building the next generation of high-speed fiber internet networks that keep communities connected. As we continue our rapid growth, we're looking for a skilled and motivated NOC Engineer (2nd shift) to join our Network Operations team.

If you thrive in fast-paced service provider (ISP) environments, enjoy solving complex network issues, and want hands-on experience with advanced routing, switching, MPLS, and fiber broadband technologies - this is an opportunity to grow your career with a company investing heavily in cutting-edge fiber infrastructure.

This is a second shift Tier 2 engineering role focused on troubleshooting and maintaining Omni Fiber's broadband FTTH and commercial Ethernet/MPLS services. This is not a transport/optical-focused position.

What You'll Do

Network Monitoring & Troubleshooting

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, repair, and document network incidents and escalations from Tier 1 support
  • Diagnose routing, switching, broadband, and commercial circuit issues across service provider environments
  • Support residential FTTH subscribers and commercial Ethernet virtual circuits (ELINE/ELAN/MPLS)

Provisioning & Network Operations

  • Provision and deprovision network elements and customer circuit services
  • Perform maintenance activities and coordinate with vendors and internal teams during maintenance windows
  • Assist with operational improvements and network reliability initiatives

Process Improvement & Collaboration

  • Develop repeatable troubleshooting procedures for Tier 1/2 support teams
  • Participate in change management, incident response, documentation, customer communications, and on call rotation
  • Provide technical guidance while maintaining a strong customer-focused mindset

What We're Looking For

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of recent experience in a service provider Network Operations Center (NOC) in a Tier 2 or higher role
  • Experience supporting Fiber PON, DSL, or Cable broadband networks
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting service provider routing and switching technologies
  • Strong understanding of broadband technologies, MPLS virtual circuits, and residential fiber services

Technical Skills

  • BGP, MPLS, IPv6, VPNs, NAT/CG-NAT, OSPF-TE, ISIS-SR
  • Service provider switching technologies including QinQ and L2VPN/EVC
  • Cisco IOS/IOS-XR or equivalent service provider platforms
  • Fiber OLT/ONT/ONU PON technologies
  • Metro Ethernet circuits, NIDs, optics, and broadband provisioning
  • TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP, and broadband troubleshooting
  • WiFi and mesh networking troubleshooting
  • Windows/Linux troubleshooting and CLI navigation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Cisco, Juniper, and/or Ciena service provider environments
  • Experience with Ciena MCP, Navigator, or MCMS
  • Service provider certifications such as:
    • CCNP-SP
    • JNCIS-SP
    • Ciena CE/CRS certifications
    • Nokia NRS
    • MEF certifications
  • Scripting or programming experience
  • Familiarity with CDN technologies and service provider security practices
