Retail & Food Service Leadership

Coen Markets , a trusted regional convenience and food service company since 1923, is proud to support the DoD SkillBridge Program by offering transitioning service members a hands-on Store Manager in Training opportunity. This program is designed to bridge military leadership experience into a civilian management career through structured training, mentorship, and real-world operational responsibility.

This role prepares participants to step into a Store Manager position by developing core competencies in leadership, operations, logistics, financial management, and team development.

What You’ll Do (SkillBridge Training Focus)
  • Receive structured, on-the-job leadership training in retail and food service operations

  • Learn end-to-end store management, including staffing, scheduling, and daily operations

  • Lead and motivate diverse teams in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment

  • Drive performance through sales growth, cost control, and operational efficiency

  • Ensure safety, compliance, and execution of company policies and procedures

  • Manage inventory, cash controls, and basic financial performance metrics

  • Deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining a clean, well-organized facility

  • Apply military leadership principles to civilian team development and accountability

Ideal SkillBridge Candidates
  • Active-duty service members approved (or eligible) for the DoD SkillBridge Program

  • Background in leadership, operations, logistics, supply, or supervision

  • Experience managing people, processes, or equipment in high-accountability environments

  • Strong communication, adaptability, and problem-solving skills

  • Comfortable working variable schedules, including weekends and holidays

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Prior retail or food service experience is helpful but not required — leadership and accountability matter most.
