Job Description:

This recruitment will be used to fill eight (8) part-time(a maximum of 24 hours per week) Materials Associate \ Surplus & Recycling Student for the Materials Management (Campus Surplus, Recycling and Mailing) at Oregon State University (OSU).

Materials Management is seeking self-motivated independent employees to assist with the Surplus and Recycling functions on campus.

Position Duties:

• This position will assist with the daily recycling routes on campus. The recycling portion consists of collection and sorting of the recyclable materials.

• Along with the recycling duties, you will help move surplus to our campus thrift store (OSUsed) and assist with personnel moves.

• Utilize your excellent customer service with the public, departments and agencies that visit the store.

• Cleaning and preparing recycling bins and carts to be redistributed around campus.

• The use of university-owned vehicles will support the transportation of a wide variety of materials across campus. Driving and safety training is provided by a Materials Management Lead Staff.

• Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study

• Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment

• Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard

  • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program

  • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term

  • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*

  • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term

  • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered "full-time" by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by theOffice of International Services(OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Working Conditions/Schedule: Be available to work 8-24 hours per week, during term and optional full time during breaks including summer.
Availability to work within the hours of 8am to 5pm at least 8 hours per week.
Willing to work in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures and/or weather.
Some of the work will be outside, entering a variety of buildings.
Requires a lot of moving and some standing.
Class schedules and school workload are considered when developing weekly work schedules.
