Job description

JOB FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Technical Training Engineer is responsible for developing, delivering, and continuously improving technical training programs that support Engineering & Construction (E&C) personnel across disciplines. This role blends engineering fundamentals with instructional design, program administration, and crossfunctional coordination to ensure employees are equipped with the technical knowledge, tools, and competencies required to execute their work safely and effectively.

  • Design and deliver engaging, high impact presentations and training sessions that inspire learning, drive adoption of standards and tools, and support lasting behavioral change for engineers, inspectors, and project personnel across E&C disciplines.

  • Demonstrate strong facilitation and communication skills to influence audiences with varying levels of technical expertise, from field personnel to senior leadership.

  • Embrace emerging technologies, including data analytics and artificial intelligence, to enhance training delivery, personalize learning paths, improve knowledge retention, and drive continuous improvement.

  • Lead onboarding and rolespecific training for new hires, interns, and Engineering Development Program (EDP) participants.

  • Translate engineering standards, procedures, specifications, and lessons learned into engaging training materials, courses, and learning paths.

  • Coordinate and deliver training on engineering tools and systems (e.g., Power BI, Maximo, Oracle, etc.) in partnership with subject matter experts.

  • Serve as E&C's Learning Management System (LMS) administrator, including course creation, enrollment, tracking, and reporting.

  • Develop and maintain methods to assess training quality and measure training effectiveness.

  • Create and track training KPIs and dashboards to support continuous improvement and workforce development planning.

  • Partner with Engineering, Construction, Operations, EHS, IT, and HR to align training programs with business needs, regulatory requirements, and competency expectations.

  • Coordinate external training providers, vendors, and industry organizations to deliver specialized or certificationbased training.

  • Maintain awareness of applicable codes, standards, and industry best practices and incorporate updates into training curricula.

  • Support career progression frameworks by aligning training content with role expectations, competency models, and advancement criteria.

  • Assist with development and maintenance of technical qualification programs, skills matrices, and competency assessments.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by capturing field feedback, audit findings, and incident learnings and integrating them into training programs.

  • Promote a culture of knowledge sharing, standardization, and technical excellence across E&C.

  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Petroleum, or related discipline) from a 4year accredited university.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability and willingness to travel at least 25% of the time.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in midstream oil & gas engineering, construction, operations, or integrity disciplines.

  • Prior experience developing or delivering technical training, mentoring, or structured knowledge transfer.

  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) administration and reporting.

  • Working knowledge of engineering tools and systems such as Maximo, ProMax, CAD platforms, GIS, or integrity management systems.

  • Experience supporting competency models, career progression frameworks, or technical qualification programs.

  • Strong presentation, facilitation, and instructional design skills.
