Job description

The Allen County Public Library's Audio Reading Service (ARS) is seeking a Fall Semester Intern currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program at any accredited college or university. This on-site internship runs for the fall academic term and offers hands-on experience in media operations, volunteer coordination, and accessible audio production and broadcasting.ARS is a department of ACPL that provides audio access to printed news and information for individuals who have difficulty reading traditional print, including people with visual impairments and other disabilities. More than 100 volunteers read and record content that is broadcast via radio, television, online streaming, and podcasts to listeners throughout the community.As an ARS Intern, you'll support day-to-day operations, assist with coordinating volunteers, and help produce and organize accessible audio content. This role blends administrative tasks with behind-the-scenes exposure to broadcasting and accessibility-focused media work.QualificationsCurrently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program (required)Available for the fall semester - 12 hours per weekProficiency with Microsoft Office and basic office tasks (data entry, filing, email)Strong communication skills and attention to detailAbility to work collaboratively with staff and volunteersThis internship is ideal for students interested in broadcasting, communications, media production, accessibility services, or nonprofit work who want to make a meaningful impact while gaining real-world experience.If this sounds like a good fit, we'd love to hear from you!
