We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven GIS Intern to support our Geographic Information Systems (GIS) initiatives in the Midstream Oil & Gas sector. This internship is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience applying geospatial tools in pipeline operations, asset tracking, and regulatory compliance.
You'll work closely with our GIS, engineering, and operations teams to support mapping and data management needs across a range of infrastructure projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist with the creation, editing, and maintenance of pipeline and facility GIS data.
• Support integrity management efforts by mapping pipeline inspection data (ILI, hydrotest, etc.).
• Contribute to the development of cartographic products, including alignment sheets and system maps.
• Integrate GPS field-collected data into enterprise GIS systems.
• Support web-based GIS platforms such as ArcGIS Online or enterprise Portal environments.
• Document GIS processes, workflows, and metadata.
Required Skills:
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in GIS/ Geography
• Proficiency with GIS software such as ArcGIS Pro
• Understanding of geospatial data structures, coordinate systems, and basic cartography.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret technical drawings and data.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Special Considerations:
• Exposure to the oil & gas industry, particularly midstream/pipeline operations.
• Familiarity with regulatory data such as HCA, Class Location, or MAOP.
• Experience working with linear referencing systems (LRS).
• Basic programming or scripting experience in Python or SQL.
• Familiarity with GPS/mobile data collection tools (e.g., Collector, Survey123).
