How much do internship epigenetics jobs pay per hour?

As of Jul 6, 2026, the average hourly pay for internship epigenetics in the United States is $15.54, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $12.50 and $17.55 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are internship opportunities in epigenetics?

Internship opportunities in epigenetics provide students or recent graduates hands-on experience in studying how gene expression is regulated without changes to the underlying DNA sequence. These internships typically involve working in research laboratories, where interns assist with experiments, data analysis, and literature reviews related to epigenetic mechanisms. Participants gain practical skills in molecular biology techniques, data interpretation, and scientific communication, making these roles valuable for those interested in careers in genetics, biomedical research, or biotechnology.

What types of projects and hands-on experiences can I expect during an Epigenetics internship?

As an Epigenetics intern, you will typically participate in a variety of laboratory-based projects such as DNA/RNA extraction, chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP), and next-generation sequencing. You may assist with data analysis using bioinformatics tools and work closely with experienced scientists to interpret experimental results. Collaboration is common, as you’ll often join team meetings and contribute to ongoing research discussions. This role provides a valuable opportunity to develop both technical laboratory skills and a deeper understanding of epigenetic mechanisms, laying a strong foundation for future career advancement in research or industry.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Epigenetics Intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Epigenetics Intern, you generally need a background in molecular biology, genetics, or a related field, with coursework or laboratory experience in epigenetics. Familiarity with laboratory techniques such as PCR, DNA/RNA extraction, sequencing technologies, and bioinformatics tools is often required. Attention to detail, a willingness to learn, and strong analytical and communication skills help interns excel in research environments. These skills and qualities are crucial for contributing to scientific discovery, ensuring accurate data collection, and collaborating effectively within research teams.
