Job description

Job Summary

The Biorepository Technician I is the core of our biorepository operations. The employee is responsible for the day to day 24/7 operations of the biorepository and sample management in accordance with approved standard operating procedures (SOPs) and all applicable regulations.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates compliance with all Kryosphere SOP’s, administrative policies & procedures, and governing authorities’ regulations at all times
  • Competently and safely works and handles potentially infectious material while following all prescribed OSHA blood borne pathogen guidelines.
  • Able to understand and demonstrate client confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  • Start to train on being on-call: role requires on-call responsibilities for afterhours, weekends and holidays
  • Additional roles and responsibilities described below under essential job functions.
  • Able to successfully receive and inventory client material without having reoccurring QA corrections.
  • Able to successfully ship out client material without having reoccurring QA corrections.
  • Pull and place client material in designated storage locations using dry ice, liquid nitrogen or other temperature control materials.
  • Complete paperwork for all assigned tasks and turn it into Quality for review.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.

JOB ESSENTIAL/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have a valid North Carolina Driver’s license without restrictions
  • Must have the ability to lift a minimum of 45 pounds
  • Must have the ability be on-call and return to the facility afterhours, weekends and holidays

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION:

  • BS/BA Degree in a life science or healthcare discipline, or previous 2 – 3 years equivalent education or experience in a similar biological sciences or related discipline.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate written and verbal scientific and clinical information.
  • Good organizational, communication, strong computer database and laboratory or clinical specimen management skills.
  • Previous biological sample management work experience is a plus.
