Position Summary
The Lab Tech in the Shull lab will be responsible for performing the following tasks in the research lab:
Perform mouse and zebrafish husbandry, maintain mouse lines and zebrafish stocks and perform genotyping via PCR.
Perform frozen/paraffin sections of mouse embryos for histological and expression analysis
Perform zebrafish microinjections and screening fluorescent transgenic zebrafish embryos and larvae.
Assist in biochemical assays such as western blotting, qPCR, molecular cloning, immunofluorescence, and histology
Prepare common use lab stocks and solutions.
Help maintain laboratory databases, contribute to laboratory compliance.
Additional responsibilities may include independent experiments that contribute to the laboratory's research goals.

Conditions of Employment
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Willingness to work with laboratory zebrafish and mice.
  • Laboratory experience, preferably working with mouse and zebrafish.
  • Willingness to perform animal husbandry (which can include tissue collection, feeding, etc on the weekends), line maintenance, genotyping.
  • Performing molecular biology techniques like PCR and qPCR, immunofluorescence, histology, microinjections.
  • Excellent communication and organization.
