Job Description:
Research-
The Biological Scientist will assist laboratory staff in the conduct of research under the supervision of postdocs or the principal investigator, as appropriate. Research will include collection of data using basic molecular procedures (DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, electrophoresis, molecular cloning, sequencing) and performing gene expression analysis (qRT-PCR). Participate in group meetings and individual meetings with the principal investigator to discuss research results.
Laboratory Support-
This individual will serve as the administrative support of the laboratory. Their overall responsibility is to maintain proper function and organization of the laboratory including, but not limited to, the following duties: managing the day to day operations of the zebrafish colony, ordering (and tracking receipt of) supplies, ensuring maintenance/calibration of laboratory equipment, organizing SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), assuring regulatory compliance, and updating records. Work productively in a multi-disciplinary lab environment by interacting positively with undergraduate students, graduate students, research associates, and collaborators.
Training of lab personnel-
Train, work productively, and interact positively with undergraduate students, graduate students, research associates, and collaborators in a multi-disciplinary lab environment. Will be directly involved in training graduate and undergraduate researchers in the laboratory on research methods, lab safety, SOPs.
Expected Salary:
$22.50 - $23.00 per hour; commensurate with education and experience.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in biology or a closely related life science field.
Preferred:
This position is particularly well-suited for a recent college graduate interested in gaining first-hand experience in biomedical research. Successful candidates will be highly motivated and have the ability to execute an original research project along with excellent verbal and written communication ability. Experience with statistical programs and/or Excel, and some previous research experience is preferred.
