Job description

Wolfe Research is seeking aย Biopharmaceuticals Equity Research Senior Associate or Junior Vice President to join its team in NYC. Wolfe Research was voted #6 on a weighted basis for equity research during 2026 by institutional clients in the prestigious Extel All-America Research Poll, trailing only significantly larger bulge bracket firms, who have historically not been viewed as our peers. The firmโ€™s clients include most of the worldโ€™s largest asset managers (mutual funds, pension funds, hedge funds).ย  Our firm covers publicly traded companies in many different industries across the US and abroad โ€“ the main focus is quality research, but we also do investment banking.

Equity research job covering: Global Pharmaceuticals & Large Cap Biotechnology. Candidates should have good familiarity with the biopharmaceutical sector. This experience could come from: (1) working in a similar financial role already, either on the "buyside" or "sell-side" in the healthcare/therapeutics space; (2) working in the biopharmaceutical industry (ideally in a business function such as sales & marketing, business development, portfolio assessment, R&D and medical affairs); or (3) working at a consulting firm where clients are biopharmaceutical companies.ย  ย 

Responsibilities & Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years experience and familiarity with the biopharmaceutical sector, as described above
  • Strong understanding and experience with financial concepts including: the basics of corporate finance such as 3-statement financial modeling; forecasting; and valuation techniques
  • Creative thinker with strong problem-solving skills:ย working with large data sets in Excel/Access, and ability to source and process information independently
  • Demonstrated ability to generate ideas:ย work closely and communicate effectively in a time sensitive environment, ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines, strong organizational skills, client service minded and strong writing skills
  • Technical skills: Bloomberg and/or FactSet skills helpful; Excel (macros, pivot tables, conditional formatting, short cuts).
  • Strong communication skills:ย particularly an ability to writeย concisely using correct grammar
  • Comfortable working 10+ hour workdaysย and some work on occasional weekends
  • Series 7, 63, 86 & 87ย licensure is preferred, or expectedย to be completed within the first 12 months of joining

Education:

  • BA/BS required, concentration must be in a scientific area relevant to the job
  • Demonstrated academic ability with a minimum 3.5 GPA
  • MBA, CPA, PharmD or PhD in a scientific area relevant to the job is not required, but is a plus

The compensation for this role is market competitive with a base salary range of 115,000-165,000. We intend to offer the selected candidate a base salary within this range, based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to skill set, job-related experience, and location. In addition, we offer an annual discretionary incentive bonus and competitive employee benefits including: medical, dental and vision coverage; life, accident and disability insurance. Wolfe also offers paid time off packages that include vacation, sick days/leave, paid holidays and paid parental leave.
