Job description

The Principal Process Engineer-Electroplating m anages and maintains all plating and chemical surface finishing processes and related activities. Ensures continued compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations. Establish and achieve planned performance levels, with primary emphasis on continuous improvement, ISO and Lean Manufacturing. Promptly reports any variance from plan and recommends corrective action.
Are You Looking To:
  • Perform hands-on surface finishing operations, when appropriate - like when developing or improving a process.
  • Prepare, institute, and sustain procedures and controls for all processes employed in the plating lab.
  • Possess a comprehensive knowledge of plating and related processes.
  • Ensure safe operation of all surface-finishing processes.
  • Mentor personnel in the proper setup and process procedures to clean and plate using the correct plating methods, correct measuring devices/techniques, process control methods, etc.
  • Solve and/or participate in solution of issues related to process, documentation, plating, and quality problems.
  • Participate in the development of new and upgrading of current processes. Investigates and recommends changes to and additions of equipment and processes.
  • Help manage waste streams and help effectively treat and store hazardous waste that is accumulated from the plating process.
  • Establish safe working and housekeeping procedures, promptly corrects hazardous situations.
  • Participate in and takes proactive roles in ISO and Lean Manufacturing methodologies for problem prevention, corrective action, identification, and solution verification.
  • Monitor process operating parameters and corrects deviations from established set points.
  • Revise process work instructions as needed. Writes new work instructions to support process changes or improvements, as necessary.

Are You Ready To:
  • Assume other projects and responsibilities from time to time, as directed.
  • Have regular and predictable attendance is presumed to be an essential function of all employment.
  • Report directly to Manager Extensive contact with Engineering, Manufacturing, Marketing, Purchasing and Quality Assurance personnel. Has contact with outside vendors and customers.
  • Be accountable for efficient operation and process development of all plating and cleaning operations within the factory.
  • Independently make complex bath and process adjustments and train others in proper procedures. Team performance measures are directly impacted by actions.
  • Maintain "Department of Transportation Shippers Training" DOT compliance once every three years in accordance with 40 CFR 172.700- 704.
  • Work with chemicals that require respirator use per Respiratory Protection Program.

What You'll Need:
  • BS degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related discipline preferred.
  • 5-years' experience in relevant plating andor chemical processes.
  • Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
