Job description

Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a self-driven and resourceful Data Center Infrastructure Engineer to join our dynamic team in Washington, DC. This position is responsible for the design, implementation, monitoring, and management of enterprise data center infrastructure environments. This role ensures the reliability, scalability, performance, and operational efficiency of critical infrastructure systems, including compute, storage, networking, virtualization, and supporting power and environmental systems.

The ideal candidate will possess strong experience supporting enterprise-class data center technologies and maintaining highly available, secure, and resilient infrastructure environments. This position requires expertise across multiple infrastructure domains, including virtualization, storage platforms, networking, and systems integration.

Data Center Infrastructure Engineer responsibilities: 

  • Design, implement, maintain, and optimize enterprise data center infrastructure environments.
  • Support and administer compute, storage, virtualization, networking, and associated infrastructure systems.
  • Monitor infrastructure performance, capacity, and availability to ensure operational continuity and system reliability.
  • Manage and troubleshoot server hardware, enterprise storage platforms, virtualization environments, and network connectivity.
  • Perform infrastructure upgrades, patching, lifecycle replacements, and system migrations.
  • Configure and support routing, switching, firewall, and load balancing technologies within the data center environment.
  • Ensure infrastructure security, compliance, backup, and disaster recovery requirements are maintained.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, configuration standards, network diagrams, and operational procedures.
  • Coordinate with engineering, cybersecurity, operations, and vendor support teams to resolve incidents and implement infrastructure improvements.
  • Support capacity planning, scalability initiatives, and modernization efforts across enterprise environments.
  • Participate in maintenance windows, outage response, and after-hours operational support as required.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • An active/current TS/SCI Security Clearance is required.
  • Bachelors degree in engineering (or similar technical field) and eight (8) years relevant experience; Masters degree and six (6) years of relevant experience; PhD with three (3) years of experience. Four (4) years of additional experience in the above-cited duties may be substituted in lieu of a completed higher education degree.
  • VMware Certified Professional - Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV) or equivalent data center platform certification.
  • DoD 8140/8570 Compliant.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), WebEx, and Teams.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in mission-critical operational environments.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Cisco Data Center certifications
  • Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP)
  • Cloud associate-level certifications
  • Additional enterprise infrastructure or virtualization certifications

Target Salary Range$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
