Job description

Position: Data Center Infrastructure Engineer Location: Honolulu, HI Responsibilities

Data Center Infrastructure Engineer (Modernization & Storage)

This role is responsible for modernizing and consolidating a mixed data center environment, with a focus on transitioning from legacy storage and dual hypervisors (VMware and Nutanix) to a standardized Nutanix platform. The engineer will lead workload migrations, optimize system performance, and ensure stability throughout the transformation.

Key responsibilities include implementing and managing Cohesity as the central platform for backup and file services, as well as integrating Wasabi object storage to support scalable, cost-effective offsite retention. The role combines hands-on operational support-monitoring system health, troubleshooting issues, and supporting internal teams-with strategic project work across compute, storage, and data management. Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in data center infrastructure, systems engineering, or storage engineering
  • Strong hands-on experience with hypervisors, including VMware and/or Nutanix AHV
  • Proven experience with storage platforms, data migration, and consolidation initiatives
  • Experience with backup and recovery solutions, preferably Cohesity or similar platforms (Rubrik, Veeam, Commvault)
  • Familiarity with object storage solutions such as Wasabi, AWS S3, or Azure Blob
  • Solid understanding of compute, storage, and virtualization performance tuning
  • Experience troubleshooting infrastructure issues across servers, storage, and virtualization layers
  • Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals (IP, DNS, VLANs, ports, firewalls)
  • Ability to support both project-based work and day-to-day operations in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with internal teams Preferred Certifications
  • Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP) or Nutanix Certified Advanced Professional (NCAP)
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
  • Cohesity Certified Administrator (CCA) or equivalent backup certification
  • AWS or Azure Cloud Certification (Associate level or higher)
  • CompTIA Server+ or Storage+ (nice to have)

This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in both operational support and forward-looking infrastructure transformation initiatives.
