The UNICO internship program offers an exciting opportunity for students pursuing a career in the insurance industry. UNICO interns will gain hands-on experience evaluating client needs, learning about insurance solutions, and supporting the sales and client service teams. Through mentorship and practical training, interns will develop key skills in customer service, risk assessment, and industry regulations. This internship provides exposure to insurance operations, including client consultations, policy analysis, and claims assistance. Ideal candidates are motivated, detail-orientated, and eager to learn about the dynamic insurance industry.

Requirements

  • Spend time mentoring with various UNICO divisions to gain an understanding of the nuances within the industry
  • Observe and learn our unique sales and service processes
  • Review and audit current policies
  • Assist in research and preparation for client presentations, tradeshows, etc.
  • Participate in activities and exercises to gain industry knowledge and experience
  • Participate in organizational and community-led events on behalf of UNICO Group
  • Complete a capstone project after the internship.

Educational Qualifiers

  • Education: Completion of junior year respective college and the basic level courses in Economics, Finance, or Business while working towards a bachelor's degree.
  • Experience: Relevant coursework or certifications in insurance or risk management are a plus.
  • Proficiency: GPA of 3.5 or higher

Physical Demands | Work Environment

  • This role's physical exertion is sedentary and occurs in an office environment.
  • The typical schedule will be Monday - Friday, between 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • This position may occasionally require an adjusted work schedule such as evening or weekend hours to complete necessary responsibilities.
  • The ability to transport, lift, and carry up to 25 pounds is an essential job function. This position may participate in event implementation and requires the physical demands to independently move tables, assemble event displays, transport food/beverage supplies, and set up tents.
  • Substantial movements and repetitive motion of the wrists, hands, and fingers.
  • Individuals must have close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing, viewing a computer, and extensive reading.
