Are you a Marine Biology or Environmental Sciences student eager to gain hands-on experience in the aquarium industry? Nature Aquariums, located in the heart of Broward County, Florida, is offering a 12 to 16-week unpaid internship designed to provide comprehensive exposure to both marine and freshwater aquatic life.โ€‹

About Us: At Nature Aquariums, we are passionate about the well-being and care of aquatic life. Our holistic approach emphasizes educating customers to ensure the best possible care for their aquatic pets. As a growing store, we offer a dynamic environment for learning and professional development.โ€‹

Internship Responsibilities:

Greet and assist customers in our showroom.โ€‹

Support the team with aquarium and system maintenance.โ€‹

Engage in hands-on projects to learn various aspects of the aquarium trade.โ€‹

Develop proficiency in identifying and caring for marine and freshwater flora and fauna.โ€‹

What We Offer:

Close-up experience with a diverse range of marine and freshwater species, including fish, invertebrates, corals, and plants.โ€‹

Real-world experience in diagnosing and correcting water chemistry and aquatic health issues.โ€‹

Exposure to a retail environment, enhancing professional customer interaction skills.โ€‹

Basic business experience in a for-profit setting.โ€‹

Ongoing coaching and feedback throughout the internship.โ€‹

Assistance in obtaining academic credit, if applicable.โ€‹

A letter of recommendation upon successful completion of the program.โ€‹

Schedule:

Duration: 12 to 16 weeks.โ€‹

Commitment: 15-25 hours per week, including Saturdays and/or Sundays, with flexibility to accommodate academic schedules.โ€‹

Qualifications:

Customer service experience preferred but not required.โ€‹

Prior knowledge of aquarium fish keeping is advantageous but not essential.โ€‹

Proficiency in additional languages, particularly Spanish, is a plus.โ€‹

Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.โ€‹

Positive attitude, discipline, and a drive to succeed.โ€‹

Competence in using computer and smartphone software.โ€‹

A passion for animals and comfort with hands-on tasks involving water.โ€‹
