Job Title: Technical Apparel Designer
Location: Eberlestock Headquarters
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8AM to 5 PM (flex based on business needs)
Reports To: Head of Design
Position Summary:
The Technical Apparel Designer is responsible for designing and developing high-performance apparel that meets Eberlestock's standards for quality, durability, functionality, and fit. This role partners closely with Product Management, Product Development, and manufacturing partners to transform product concepts into production-ready garments that perform in demanding outdoor environments.
The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of garment construction, technical fabrics, fit, and manufacturing processes, while maintaining a passion for creating innovative products that support hunters, military professionals, law enforcement, and outdoor enthusiasts.

Key Responsibilities:
Create and maintain detailed technical packages including garment specifications, construction details, bill of materials, measurement specifications, grading, and fit comments
Specify technical fabrics, trims, insulation, waterproof technologies, and garment components based on intended product performance
Develop apparel systems that balance comfort, durability, weather protection, mobility, weight, and packability
Design garments that integrate effectively with backpacks, load carriage systems, optics, and other technical equipment
Coordinate prototype evaluations and incorporate feedback from field testing, athletes, ambassadors, and internal stakeholders into future product revisions
Stay informed of industry trends, emerging materials, manufacturing technologies, and competitor products to support continued product innovation
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Apparel Design, Fashion Design, Textile Engineering, Product Development, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
Strong knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, grading, fit development, and manufacturing processes
Working knowledge of performance fabrics, waterproof technologies, insulation systems, and garment construction techniques
Experience designing hunting, tactical, military, backpacking, mountaineering, or outdoor performance apparel
Familiarity with waterproof/breathable technologies, seam sealing, bonding, and advanced garment construction methods
Personal experience hunting, backpacking, mountaineering, or participating in other demanding outdoor pursuits
Ability to travel occasionally, both domestically and internationally, including visits to manufacturing partners, field testing events, and other business-related activities
