JOIN OUR TEAM as a Director of Business Development!
Director, Business Development Position Summary: Responsible for driving profitable revenue growth through the identification and development of new products, customer segments, vendor programs, and margin expansion opportunities. Partner closely with the VP, Operations, National Accounts Director, Director, International Procurement, and branch leadership to ensure growth initiatives are practical, executable, and scalable at the branch level.

Principal Accountabilities & Deliverables
  • Identify new products, customer segments, and market opportunities to drive incremental revenue growth.
  • Analyze market trends, customer demand, and competitive offerings to support product and segment strategy.
  • Facilitate communication with International Procurement team and branch leadership to identify opportunities to grow import products and improve margins.
  • Work closely with the procurement team to support imported product growth strategies.
  • Manage key vendor relationships including negotiation of rebates, pricing structures, incentives, and contract agreements.
  • Partner with the National Accounts Director on vendor relationships, program development, and national account opportunities.
  • Support the VP, Operations with branch-level initiatives related to customer programs, promotions, and customer events.
  • Translate vendor programs and product strategies into actionable tools for branch sales teams.
  • Identify and support company sales training needs related to product knowledge, vendor programs, and value-based selling.
  • Track and report performance of new products, vendor programs, and margin initiatives.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned and remain flexible and adaptable to business needs.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in business development, product management, vendor management, or sales leadership within building products/distribution.
  • Strong understanding of pricing, margins, and two-step distribution.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without direct authority in a decentralized organization.
  • Ability to align a team toward specific goals and advise of specific business requirements.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and vendor management skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze sales, inventory, and margin data to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Ability to operate a computer and supporting software including spreadsheets and CRM tools.
  • Maintain proficiency with customer account systems to obtain sales, inventory, and performance information.
  • Knowledge of customer account structure (merchandising, inventory, logistics) and how each interacts.
  • Frequent travel (30-50%)
