Primary Purpose:

Tallgrass is seeking a dynamic, experienced Internal Communications Manager to lead and support strategic communication initiatives that enhance stakeholder engagement, advance organizational goals, and strengthen its reputation and operational effectiveness.

This role plays a critical part in developing and executing communication strategies that align messaging and strengthen relationships across diverse audiences and channels to support Tallgrass' business priorities. The successful candidate will collaborate cross-functionally to translate complex information and concepts into clear, compelling, and effective communications.

Compensation: Compensation ranges are provided in good faith based on what we anticipate when researching wages for this position at the state and national levels.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.  This salary range may also be modified in the future.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Business, or a related field.

Experience/Specific Knowledge:

  • 8-10 years experience in communications, public relations, corporate communications, or stakeholder engagement.
  • Demonstrated experience centralizing or governing internal communications across multiple teams or functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to write for multiple employee audiences, including field employees and senior leaders
  • Hands-on experience managing or partnering on an enterprise intranet (SharePoint or similar), including content governance, analytics, and information architecture.
  • Proven ability to lead communication strategy and execution in complex environments.
  • Strong skills in developing creative communication materials and managing multi-channel campaigns.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify complex information.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and prioritization capabilities.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across diverse groups.
  • Self-motivated with a high degree of initiative and accountability.
  • Proficiency in common office software applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally, if required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Communications, Public Relations, Business, or related field.
  • Experience working with external vendors and cross-functional teams.

Compensation:

  • The annual salary range for this position will be $130,000-$170,000/yr.

Essential duties:

  • Create and manage an integrated internal communications content calendar that aligns communications across internal functions and business units; proactively balancing planned campaigns with urgent announcements.
  • Develop audience-first communications tailored for distinct employee groups, using the right channel, tone, and level of detail for each.
  • Write and edit in an inclusive, accessible voice ensuring consistency with Tallgrass brand and culture; provide coaching/editing support to internal communicators and subject-matter experts.
  • Partner closely with field leadership and operational teams to ensure communications are actionable for frontline roles 
  • Own internal channel strategy and governance for company intranet and SharePoint. e.g., standards, page ownership, tagging, templates.
  • Drive continuous improvement of the intranet employee experience by improving findability and usability (information architecture, navigation, search optimization) and by using analytics and employee feedback to prioritize enhancements.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies and plans that support organizational priorities.
  • Create messaging frameworks and draft talking points, presentations and other communication materials tailored for various audiences and stakeholders.
  • Develop content and manage placement of communication campaigns across print, digital, social media, and other channels.
  • Translate complex topics into clear and engaging content for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support stakeholder engagement efforts through communication tools and materials for meetings, events, and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent messaging and alignment.
  • Monitor, measure, and report on communication effectiveness and engagement outcomes.
  • Provide guidance on communication best practices and serve as a trusted advisor to internal teams.
  • Lead or participate in engagement sessions, workshops, or forums to facilitate dialogue and address stakeholder needs.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and coordination with team members, vendors, or partners, as applicable.
