Key Position Details:

As a Primary Care Internist, you'll work in partnership with a multidisciplinary team that includes access to specialists, mental health professionals, and integrative medicine through the Penny George Institute for Health and Healing. This holistic, patient-centered approach is at the heart of how we deliver care-supporting every aspect of a patient's health journey.

The Bloomington clinic is searching for a Internal Medicine Physician to join its team. Here you will be part of a 57 member team including 9 Primary Care Providers and the service line specialties of Eye, Ortho, Podiatry, Allergy, Cardiology, Weigh Mgmt, Derm, ENT, Gen Surg, MH, OB/GYN, and additional ancillary services yet able to access the full spectrum of specialty care across the Allina Health system.

  • Flexible FTE

  • 36 patient contact hours per week

  • Minimal call coverage, phone only, RN triage support

  • Outpatient practice providing care to all ages, including growing families

  • Clinic hours are Monday -Friday: 7:00am-5pm, and closed Saturday-Sunday

Job Description:

Responsible for direct patient care by reviewing patient's medical history while collecting, prioritizing, and synthesizing comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situation. Provides education, consultation or intervention to patients (treatment plan) and their families.
Provides direct internal medicine patient care to individuals eighteen years and older on a daily basis.
Principle Responsibilities

  • Direct Patient Care.
    • Provides direct internal medicine patient care to individuals eighteen years or older.
    • Reviews patient's medical history while collecting, prioritizing, and synthesizing comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situation.
    • Evaluates, interprets, and coordinates information to make decisions and recommendations regarding patient care.
    • Provides education, consultation or intervention to patients (treatment plan) and their families.
    • Works collaboratively with patients to improve their health and well-being.
    • Practices in a thoughtful manner including consideration for cultural diversity, individual autonomy and legal responsibilities.
    • Actively participates in multidisciplinary approach to case management.
    • Functions appropriately as part of care delivery team through efficient use of resources and skills.
    • Charts in electronic format in accordance with licensure and scope.
    • May provide care in an ambulatory clinic, inpatient or outpatient hospital setting.
    • May participate in on-call rotation.
  • Quality.
    • Utilizes quality improvement tools to develop processes that promote continuous improvement in delivery of patient care, patient outcomes, or work flows.
    • May participate in peer review and quality assurance.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • Doctoral/Ph.D. level advanced degree in Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or foreign equivalent from an approved school of medicine
  • Completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) accredited Residency training program in Internal Medicine
  • 0 to 2 years demonstrated experience in designated specialty area


Licenses/Certifications

  • Licensed Physician - MN Board of Medical Practice required must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine upon hire
  • BLS Tier 1 - Basic Life Support - Multisource required within 180 Days
  • Licensed Physician - WI must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine upon hire required
  • Board Certification in Integrative Medicine within 1-1/2 Yrs preferred
  • Drug Enforcement Agency Certificate upon hire required
  • Prescription Monitoring Program upon hire required
  • National Provider Identifier upon hire required


Physical Demands

Pay Range

Pay Range: $279,825 to $329,175 per yearThe pay described reflects the starting base pay range, assuming a full-time FTE. Your starting rate will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable).
