Position Description:
Strategic internal communications leader responsible for connecting initiatives across the organization into a cohesive, visible communications strategy - balancing strategic direction with hands-on execution that drives clarity, activation, and engagement among CGI U.S.-based professionals.
OVERVIEW
The Internal Communications Director is the senior internal communications leader for the U.S. Commercial and State and Local Government Strategic Business Unit (SBU), responsible for ensuring cohesive, visible, and effective communications that engage CGI professionals and managers. This role connects initiatives across the organization into a clear and coordinated narrative, aligning Global direction, U.S. strategy and priorities, HR and Corporate Services initiatives, and regional Business Unit inputs into messaging that drives understanding, activation, and pride.
Serving as both strategist and hands-on leader, the Director brings structure, quality, and clarity to internal communications while fostering strong cross-functional collaboration. The role requires executive presence, business acumen, and the ability to translate complexity into actionable and compelling communications across a variety of channels - while also rolling up their sleeves to ensure speed, accuracy, and execution excellence.
This position will be based in our Fairfax, VA office. CGI utilizes a hybrid model and partners should be prepared to work in a local CGI office, as needed.
Your future duties and responsibilities:

. Lead the development and execution of the SBU's internal communications strategy for CGI Partner and manager audiences.
. Ensure narrative coherence across layered inputs from Global Marketing & Communications, Strategic Operations, HR, other Corporate Services teams and Business Units.
. Support adoption and behavior-change initiatives by shaping communications that move CGI Partners from awareness to action.
. Align communications to support the SBU's strategy to grow and retain talent, reinforcing our talent brand and employee value proposition within internal channels.
. Establish and maintain an internal communications planning rhythm and calendar that brings cohesion and visibility to initiatives across the SBU.
. Serve as the SBU representative within the Global Internal Communications community, ensuring alignment and effective localization of global initiatives.
Connector & Community Builder
. Convene and lead a community of internal communications leads and contributors across the SBU.
. Foster information sharing, collaboration, and alignment across communications stakeholders who do not report directly to this role.
. Promote shared standards, transparency, tools, and a cohesive internal experience across geographies and teams.
. Serve as a consultative partner to business-enabling functions, helping clarify purpose, audience, and desired outcomes before communications are developed.
Channel Governance & Execution Excellence
. Oversee SBU-level internal channels, including newsletters, Teams communities, executive mailboxes, and related distribution platforms.
. Ensure communications are timely, accurate, aligned with brand standards, and reflective of CGI's values.
. Maintain and evolve processes that enable efficient intake, review, approval, and distribution of communications.
. Support ongoing modernization of internal communications platforms and ensure effective adoption and usage.
Storytelling & Talent Brand Alignment
. Collaborate closely with Talent Marketing to ensure authentic CGI Partner stories and experiences are surfaced internally and amplified.
. Contribute to a consistent narrative across grow, retain, and attract talent strategies.
. Shape messaging and storytelling that resonates with CGI Partners and reinforces our culture and priorities.
Event Communications & Activation
. Co-lead communications strategy for SBU-level internal events such as Annual Tour, Town Hall, and special initiatives.
. Develop and oversee communications plans that build awareness, drive participation, and amplify post-event messaging.
. Partner with internal event leadership to ensure messaging, presentation materials, and activation strategies align with overall SBU priorities.
Measurement & Continuous Improvement
. Define and monitor internal communications KPIs aligned to engagement and activation goals.
. Synthesize feedback and insights to improve clarity, effectiveness, and reach.
