Job description

Whether your background is in writing, content, journalism, or creative communications, you can be successful in this role. We're less focused on titles and more interested in how you think, write, and help others do their best work.

About The Role:

Internal communications is one of the ways our culture comes to life.As our Internal Communications Team Lead - Content, you'll help shape the stories that help us stay connected to each other, our mission, and our values.

This role is part writer, part coach, and part creative partner. You'll spend time in the work - writing, editing, and shaping stories - while also guiding a small team.

You'll work closely with teams across People Services and beyond to turn programs, events, and our day-to-day VU experiencesinto stories that bring us together.

Here's a snapshot of what you'd be doing:

  • Writing and refining internal stories, award submissions, and other content that brings our culture and work to life.

  • Reviewing work and giving clear feedback to help storytellers improve and grow.

  • Planning and maintaining a year-round content calendar that supports ourpriorities and programs.

  • Leading and supporting a small content team by setting expectations, coaching thoughtfully, and keeping work moving forward.

  • Making sure captured content (interviews, events, b-roll, etc.) is organized and ready to be used when needed.

  • Paying attention to how stories are landing and adjusting approach based on feedback and engagement.

  • Exploring new tools and ways of working, including AI, to improve efficiency and quality.

  • Pitching in where needed to support team priorities and strengthen culture (excluding licensed tasks).

About You:

You don't need a perfectly linear background to thrive here. We're more interested in how you approach content, how you support others, and how you think about communication.

You might be a great fit if:

  • You're a strong writer who knows how to make messages clear, human, and engaging.

  • You have a good instinct for tone and can adjust it based on audience and purpose.

  • You enjoy shaping stories and helping others improve their work through thoughtful feedback.

  • You're comfortable being hands-on while also guiding a small team.

  • You like bringing structure to creative work - planning, organizing, and keeping things moving.

  • You're curious and open to trying new tools and approaches, including AI.

  • You show up consistently and can be counted on to follow through.
