Periop 101 Registered Nurse (RN)
Launch Your Career in the Operating Room
Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center is seeking a motivated Registered Nurse to join our Periop 101 Program. This unique opportunity is designed for nurses who are new to the Operating Room or looking to transition into perioperative nursing.
The Periop 101 Program is a comprehensive 6-9 month, full-time education and training program led by our Perioperative Nurse Educator. The program follows the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) Core Curriculum, combining online didactic learning with hands-on clinical experience to build the knowledge, technical skills, and confidence needed to provide safe, high-quality surgical patient care.
Requirements
Education and/or Experience :
  • Minimum of an Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred, from an accredited nursing program.
  • Minimum of one year in area of specialty or acute care is preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations :
  • Must maintain current, active license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Colorado.
  • Must maintain current CPR certification.
  • Must maintain current ACLS certification .
  • Must maintain current PAL
Essential Job Duties
  • Serves in the role of Circulating Nurse and/or Scrub Nurse for surgical and procedural cases upon successful completion of the PeriOp 101 training program and competency validation.
  • Performs scrub duties, including the preparation, selection, organization, and handling of surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies. Maintains the sterile field and completes surgical counts in collaboration with the circulating nurse.
  • Performs circulating nurse responsibilities before, during, and after surgical procedures, including preparing the operating room, assessing and positioning the patient, reviewing the medical record, verifying informed consent, and confirming surgeon preferences and all preoperative requirements are met.
  • Adheres to AORN standards, hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and infection prevention practices while maintaining patient safety and quality of care.
