Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled IT Intern to join our IT department. This role provides hands-on experience in IT optimization and large-scale infrastructure projects, including a storage infrastructure refresh initiative.
You will work alongside experienced IT professionals to support enterprise systems, gaining exposure to real-world environments spanning networking, storage, automation, and Linux-based systems.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support administration and maintenance of enterprise compute, storage and network systems
  • Monitor system performance, collect metrics, and identify bottlenecks
  • Assist in troubleshooting issues across networking, storage, and system performance
  • Develop scripts and automation tools to improve operational efficiency
  • Work with Linux, Windows and MacOS-based systems for configuration, tuning, and optimization
  • Document workflows, configurations, and system changes for knowledge sharing
  • Collaborate with IT staff on day-to-day operations and ongoing projects

Required Qualifications
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Strong foundation in networking concepts
  • Hands-on experience with Linux systems
  • Familiarity with scripting
  • Familiarity with Docker / container-based environments
  • Understanding of storage and network infrastructure fundamentals
  • Exposure to IT automation tools (e.g., Ansible)
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

The anticipated compensation range for this position is $22 - $25/hr. NEC offers its interns paid company holidays and access to fitness areas.
