Locatedin Greater Boston, MassBay is a comprehensive, open-access community college,offering associate degrees and certificate programs on three campuses inWellesley Hills, Framingham, and Ashland, Massachusetts.
Position Summary:
The ideal candidate will join a vibrant educational communityand have a desire and ability to serve a population of students with variousneeds and backgrounds. This is apart-time, student employment position with no benefits. The ideal candidate will join acollaborative, relationship-focused team and have an interest in marketing, communicationsand/or community engagement. This is a part-time, student employment position of10-12 hours a week for 10 weeks with no benefits.
Within the division of Institutional Advancement, theMassBay Office of Development and Alumni Relations builds, strengthens, andhonors relationships with alumni, donors, and volunteers who care about MassBayand want to stay connected to the College. These relationships help createopportunities and provide resources for current and future students.
The Institutional Advancement Student Intern will supportthis work by helping identify, connecting with, and sharing stories of alumniand volunteers. Through research, outreach, and writing, the intern will createprofiles for the MassBay website, newsletters, and social media, whileassisting with communication and relationship-building efforts across theoffice. Individualized learning outcomes will be developed collaborativelybetween the intern and supervisor.
This internship provides hands-on, professionalcommunications experience and the chance to explore careers in advancement andnonprofit fundraising, which are essential functions at most colleges,universities, and nonprofit organizations.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Work with staff across the department and the College, including faculty and campus partners, to 1) identify alumni who were actively engaged as students and 2) individuals who currently volunteer their time to support MassBay;
  • Collect background information about selected alumni and volunteers through online research and conversations with those that know them;
  • Contact selected alumni and volunteers via phone and/or email to request interviews and schedule conversations;
  • Conduct interviews (phone, virtual, or email) to gather updates and personal stories;
  • Write clear, engaging profiles for use on the MassBay website, newsletters, and social media;
  • Collect or coordinate photographs of interviewees for use on the MassBay website, newsletter, and social medial;
  • Maintain organized records of outreach and needed follow up;
  • Attend weekly 1:1 meetings with direct supervisor; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

This list is not to be considered all-inclusive. Asupervisor may assign other duties as required to meet the needs and foster themission of the College.
