Job description

Job Objective:
Hilcorp offers Geoscience office internships to students based upon previous experience and current course work. We recruit graduating seniors who have applied for graduate school and MS students with at least a year remaining for completion of their degree. Office interns will work in our corporate office in Houston.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
  • Office interns will be working with one of our asset teams. We usually pair the Geoscience intern with an engineering intern. The intern project involves conducting a reservoir study that will include analyzing and correlating well logs, completing structure and net pay maps, and quantify the oil and gas reserves of the project area. The objective is identify economically viable investment opportunities. Interns will also evaluate the economics of projects they identify and make recommendation for recompletions, workovers and drill wells. The internship will include presentations throughout the summer to management for project approvals as needed and a final presentation of the project at the end of the summer.
  • Adheres to the company's values - integrity, ownership, urgency, alignment and innovation.
  • Supports company vision and mission.
  • Adheres to established work schedule, attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:
  • Applicant must have full summer available.
  • Intern should have an interest in pursuing a career in the oil & gas industry.
  • 3.0 or higher GPA

Education Requirements:
  • Students having achieved a BS in Geology or Geophysics and applying for graduated school are encouraged to apply. MS students with more than a year remaining are also encouraged to apply.
