In order to achieve those goals, we are bringing together a diverse team of experienced and talented professionals. Headquartered in Downtown Houston, the Golden Pass LNG organization expects to double in size over the next several years as we complete the project, commence natural gas trading activities, and ramp up towards full LNG production. Once full operations commence, Golden Pass LNG will become the second largest consumer of natural gas in the US and produce more than 200 cargos of LNG per annum.
Job Summary / Purpose
This role is reporting to the Director of Commodity Finance as part of the Commodity Finance team, the Product Control Supervisor is charged with executing the Product Control function within Golden Pass for all natural gas supply, hedging, and optimization activities as well as all related LNG sales, LNG inventory and Heavy Hydrocarbon inventory and sales. The Product Control Supervisor is tasked with understanding supply and optimization strategies including products, hedging, pricing, risk management and regulatory implications working closely with Front Office, Risk, Logistics, Plant Operations, Compliance, Legal and IT. Furthermore, this role will be supervising and leading 3 direct reports (2 full time and 1 intern). This supervisory role is tasked with growing and developing the talents and skillsets of 2 Product Control Analysts and 1 TRIP intern. This role will be co-located on the trade floor with the Commercial and Risk Management teams.
Essential Duties / Functions
  1. Support Director of Commodity Finance in the execution of the Product Control remit. Lead and supervise 3 direct reports (2 full time and 1 intern). Develop Product Control analysts and interns into subject matter experts, and push them to continuously improve processes, controls and reporting.
  2. Oversee the daily position and P&L tie-out and reporting for natural gas, heavy hydrocarbons and LNG commodities; continually improve reporting capabilities and insights. Partner with the IT team to continuously improve the ETRM application as it relates to PnL Analytics, along with Power BI and datalake initiatives.
  3. Champion a strong control environment ensuring robust and fit-for-purpose controls are in place front-to-back and operating effectively, including key SOX controls and associated documentation.
  4. Provide assistance and partnering/validation within period end closes for commodity related valuations
  5. Lead the systematic capture and valuation validation of complex transactions being the ETRM subject matter expert
  6. Ensure compliance of all Product Control accountable activities with Golden Pass and regulatory/legal policies, procedures and requirements
  7. Partner with Commercial, Compliance, Risk and Finance teams to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant commodity operations.
  8. Partner with the Commodity Finance Settlements Supervisor and Commodity Finance Accounting Manager to ensure accurate capture and reconciliation of all ETRM related Data within the General Ledger.

Minimum Requirements
Minimum education required of the position
  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

Minimum experience required of the position
  • 5-8 years of commodity mid-office controls experience in the North American Energy market.
  • Experience with ETRM's, utilization and analytics buildouts within a natural gas trading and marketing or gas supply business with LNG export/liquefaction experience a plus.
  • Experience working in a commodity trading environment with a proven track record of partnering across Front, Mid and Back Office functions while maintaining a key eye on control, compliance and independence.
  • Experience leading and managing teams, along with analyst development.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position.
  • Technical Competency - Ability to understand and dissect complex gas supply, gas transportation and gas storage agreements as well as LNG offtake/sales agreements and ensure their proper systematic capture and proper risk profile and valuation; ability to walk activities from risk system to financial systems of record and reporting
  • Communication - Able to take complex commodity activities and results and communicate these in a clear and concise manner to all levels of the organization, including non-financial, non-risk team members, building understanding and knowledge
  • Partnership & Team Building - Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop strong relationships and seamless interfaces across the business, including front, middle and back office teams as well as with senior management. Must have ability to lead and manage a team.
  • Systems - Strong ETRM understanding including implementation and underlying process design
  • Perspective - Maintains a strong professional network, both internally and externally, to understand internal strategies and direction of travel as well as emerging external finance and risk issues and views ensuring Golden Pass Product Control is always forward thinking and on the front foot

Required Job Competencies for this Position:
  • A professional self-starter who is results-focused with superior commodity risk, valuation and reporting expertise and system leveraging capability along with leadership and management skillsets

  • MBA or CFA is not required but is considered a plus
