Qorvo's RF Design Engineering Internships are offered in our High Performance Analog business group. Specific projects and responsibilities will be determined based on the business needs at the time of the internship assignment.
Team Overview:
The Antenna Technologies team, part of the Defense Missions Technology group within Qorvo's Defense & Aerospace (D&A) business unit, develops advanced phased array antenna solutions that enable our customers to accomplish critical missions. As an intern with our team, you will collaborate with world-class antenna designers, RF engineers, and test professionals that create state-of-the-art products for Satellite Communications, Line-of-Sight Communications, Radar, and other defense and aerospace applications.
Responsibilities may include:
  1. Complete intern project based on alignment between candidate capabilities and antenna team requirements. Example projects may include:
    • Development of demonstration system that highlights existing antenna team designs that can be used at Qorvo public events and trade shows.
    • Perform testing on existing designs that allow the antenna team to understand performance variations over production.
    • Implement new calibration routines and validate with measured data.
    • Validate new test setups for over the air testing of existing antennas.
  1. Support ongoing antenna team design work by performing one or more of the following tasks:
    • Collaborate with mmWave antenna, electrical, RF component, and printed circuit board design engineers to develop mmWave phased array designs for emerging markets and applications.
    • Design passive circuit components, including power splitters/combiners, microstrip and stripline transmission lines, and impedance transformers, using AWR, CST, or HFSS.
    • Support hands-on testing and troubleshooting of RF and mmWave phased array antenna prototypes, including power supplies, control circuits, and RF/mmWave circuits.

Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in an Engineering degree program, pursuing a Master's degree (MSEE or equivalent) or higher
  • Minimum GPA 3.0 or higher
  • Prior RF circuit design and/or antenna design experience using AWR, CST, and/or HFSS.
  • Experience designing and/or testing RF and mmWave circuits, coupons, and systems.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with scripting or programming in a language such as Python.
  • Experience designing or testing phased array antennas, beamforming networks, antenna modules, or RF front-end assemblies.
  • Experience working with PCB fabrication and assembly vendors to support prototype builds, design reviews, and failure analysis.
  • Hands-on experience using RF/mmWave test equipment such as VNAs, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power meters, and probe stations.
  • Strong technical communication skills, including the ability to summarize trade studies, test results, and design decisions for cross-functional teams.

Competitive hourly pay commensurate with experience: $31/hr - $42/hr (subject to change dependent on physical location)
