What does intern mean?

An intern is a person who works temporarily for a company or organization to gain practical experience, often while still in school or recent graduate. Internships for roles like Google Rf Engineer typically involve learning technical skills, working on projects, and may be paid or unpaid, with a set duration usually lasting a few months.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Intern Google RF Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Intern Google RF Engineer, you need a solid understanding of radio frequency theory, signal processing, and wireless communication fundamentals, typically supported by coursework in electrical engineering or a related field. Familiarity with RF design tools like MATLAB, ADS, and network analyzers, as well as experience with simulation and measurement systems, is often required. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and effective teamwork are valuable soft skills for this role. These skills and qualities are critical for addressing complex RF challenges and contributing to innovative wireless solutions in a collaborative environment.

What does an Intern Google RF Engineer do?

An Intern Google RF (Radio Frequency) Engineer typically assists in designing, testing, and optimizing wireless communication systems and hardware. Their responsibilities may include conducting RF measurements, analyzing signal data, supporting prototype development, and collaborating with teams to solve technical challenges. Interns often work under the guidance of senior engineers, gaining hands-on experience with cutting-edge wireless technologies used in Google products. This role helps interns develop skills in RF circuit design, simulation tools, and troubleshooting techniques relevant to the telecommunications industry.

Is an intern a job?

An intern is a person in a temporary position within a company or organization, often for gaining work experience or training. Internships can be paid or unpaid and typically involve learning skills related to a specific field, such as engineering or technology. While internships are considered work experiences, they are usually not classified as full-time employment.

What types of projects and responsibilities can an Intern Google RF Engineer expect during their internship?

As an Intern Google RF Engineer, you can expect to work on real-world wireless communication projects, such as assisting with the design, testing, and optimization of radio frequency systems used in Google devices and infrastructure. Interns often collaborate closely with experienced RF engineers, hardware teams, and software developers to analyze signal performance, conduct lab measurements, and troubleshoot RF issues. You'll likely use industry-standard tools and simulation software, gaining hands-on experience and exposure to the latest wireless technologies. This collaborative and fast-paced environment provides valuable opportunities to learn, contribute to impactful projects, and build a strong technical foundation for a career in RF engineering.

Is intern a good movie?

The Intern is a comedy film starring Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway, and it is generally well-received for its humor and positive portrayal of workplace relationships. It is not related to the role of an intern in a professional setting but is often appreciated for its entertainment value. As a job seeker, understanding the difference between the film and real internship experiences is important.

What is a better word for intern?

A better word for intern is often 'trainee,' 'apprentice,' or 'junior' depending on the context. For a Google RF Engineer internship, these terms can reflect the level of experience and responsibilities, with 'trainee' emphasizing learning and development during the program.

Job description

Welcome to Fi.
We're a passionate team from Square, Google, Oura, Peloton, Uber, and more working to transform the human-pet relationship. Our mission? Develop cutting-edge technology to revolutionize what it means to be a pet parent. The pet industry remains firmly stuck in the past and we are here to change that. Fi is leveraging our team's talent and expertise to improve the lives of millions of pets in the U.S. Real-time location tracking, activity, sleep and behavior monitoring - and that's just the beginning.
The most exciting aspect of our work? Bridging the communication gap between pets and humans. Imagine a world where everyone knows how their pet feels in real time and how to keep their best friend in good shape. That's the future we're building at Fi.
If you're someone who thrives in innovative, collaborative work environments and feels strongly about helping pets live longer, better lives, Fi could be the perfect fit. Join us in our pursuit of the "impossible," or as we call it here "let me find a way," to redefine the future of pet ownership together.
Fi is looking for an Antenna Engineer!
Fi is looking for an Antenna Engineer to own antenna design end-to-end for our connected products, shaping how they perform in the real world, not just on paper. You'll work from early system architecture through mass production, partnering closely with electrical, mechanical, and product teams to solve hard constraints around size, power, reliability, and manufacturability. The work spans RF design, antenna integration, tuning, and validation, and directly sets the technical foundation for Fi's next generation of high-volume consumer hardware operating at scale.
What You'll Do:
  • Own end-to-end antenna design for Fi products, from proof-of-concept through mass production.
  • Lead antenna architecture and contribute to overall system architecture, including RF component selection, schematic capture, and RF PCB layout.
  • Design, optimize, tune, and validate antennas to meet aggressive constraints around size, performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • Work closely with mechanical, industrial design, firmware, leadership, and overseas engineering teams to ensure seamless antenna integration into the product.
  • Push antenna performance using a mix of best practices, state-of-the-art approaches, and novel designs where needed - because every dB matters.
  • Partner directly with overseas CM/JDM teams on antenna implementation, performance testing, compliance, and production ramp.

What You'll Bring:
  • 8+ years of experience designing electrically small antennas for consumer electronics or similar products.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven ability to translate product-level connectivity requirements into RF system and antenna requirements, including managing external consultants and fabrication vendors as needed.
  • Deep hands-on experience with custom antenna design in the ~600 MHz to 3 GHz range, including multiband designs, polarization control, antenna isolation in close proximity, and performance optimization near human or animal tissue.
  • Strong understanding of antenna integration, including use of enclosures and mechanical structures as part of the antenna system.
  • Experience across common antenna fabrication methods and materials, including LDS, FPC, PCB, stamped metal, and ceramic chip antennas, with an understanding of material tradeoffs.
  • Comfort building scrappy prototypes using rapid methods such as hand-formed copper, milling, or 3D printing.
  • Proficiency with 3D electromagnetic simulation tools for antenna design.
  • Strong RF lab skills, including conducted and radiated measurements, antenna tuning, and managing cable effects when testing electrically small antennas.
  • Experience operating semi-anechoic chamber testing and supporting regulatory and compliance testing.
  • Ability to design simple schematics and PCBs to support antenna prototyping and test.
  • Familiarity with firmware and software requirements for RF validation, including sensitivity metrics like BER and PER, and comfort using scripts (e.g., Python) for test automation or analysis.
  • Proven track record leading antenna designs from prototype through mass production.
  • Willingness to travel to China as needed.
  • A passion for dogs is a plus - our NYC office is dog-friendly

Why You'll Love Us:
