Build a Career Estimating Complex Environmental and Specialty Contracting Projects
Winter Environmental is seeking an experienced Estimator - Environmental & Specialty Contracting to prepare competitive, accurate estimates for environmental remediation, asbestos abatement, lead abatement, mold remediation, selective interior demolition, and industrial demolition projects throughout the Southeast and Eastern United States.
This is an opportunity for an experienced estimator who enjoys solving complex challenges, developing winning project strategies, and collaborating with operations teams to pursue technically demanding work. We're looking for professionals who understand estimating, project planning, cost analysis, and risk evaluation within the environmental and specialty contracting industries.
Our Estimators work closely with project managers, operations leaders, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to develop competitive proposals that position Winter Environmental for long-term success.
Travel to project sites and pre-bid meetings is required.
What You'll Do
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for environmental remediation, asbestos abatement, lead abatement, mold remediation, selective interior demolition, and industrial demolition projects.
  • Review drawings, specifications, bid documents, and contract requirements.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and develop labor, equipment, material, subcontractor, and disposal estimates.
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
  • Identify project risks, assumptions, exclusions, and value engineering opportunities.
  • Participate in site visits, pre-bid meetings, and client walkthroughs.
  • Develop competitive proposals and assist with bid submissions.
  • Coordinate with project managers and operations teams during project turnover.
  • Maintain historical cost information and estimating databases.
  • Support business development efforts by assisting with budgeting, conceptual estimates, and negotiated proposals.

What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • Five (5) or more years of estimating experience in environmental remediation, asbestos abatement, demolition, heavy civil, environmental construction, or related industries.
  • Experience reviewing drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Strong understanding of labor production, equipment costing, subcontractor pricing, and material estimating.
  • Experience preparing detailed cost estimates and competitive proposals.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Experience estimating environmental remediation, asbestos abatement, demolition, or environmental construction projects.
  • Experience with HCSS HeavyBid, Bluebeam, Planswift, OST, or similar estimating software.
  • Experience with conceptual estimating and negotiated work.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification.
  • 40-Hour HAZWOPER.
