Job description

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:
The Clinical Therapist I promotes a strengths-based approach to treatment that empowers families, supports a community based philosophy of service, and ensures that all clinical services are aligned with the agency's mission, vision, and core values. Performs a wide variety of professional, doctoral/master level clinical services for children and families in a community based mental health setting. Assists clients and their families in understanding and finding solutions to complex problems that lead to and/or result from mental illness and severe emotional health needs. Within company guidelines and professional standards, individuals in this position function independently.
Services are delivered at Wellnest's existing walk-in clinic that operates every Monday through Friday, but may at times be delivered through HIPAA-compliant Telehealth, in client homes, schools, and other community settings. Clinical hours are currently 9am-5pm, but should hours expand, Therapists will be required to be available for at least one evening shift per week. This position requires excellent computer skills and timely completion of clinical documentation in an electronic health record system using collaborative documentation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Completes Clinical Interviews with individuals and/or their families to obtain a family, medical, and mental health treatment history to provide DSM diagnosis, determine appropriateness of clinical program to meet clients needs, and enroll applicant in services.
  • Assigns cases to ongoing providers including psychotherapy, medication services, skill-building, and Targeted Case Management
  • Provides crisis intervention and evaluates for a higher level of care such as Intensive Outpatient services or involuntary psychiatric holds.
  • Provides psycho-education to clients and families regarding mental health needs and treatment recommendations.
  • Provides individual, family, and/or group psychotherapy in-person or using HIPAA-compliant Telehealth.
  • Completes DMH/Med-Cal required Initial Assessments and associated clinical documentation and submits clinical documentation within 3 business days utilizing the agency's electronic health record system.
  • Provides consultation services with Wellnest treatment team and/or to community agencies (e.g., DCFS) to advise the consultee on the utilization of mental health services pertinent to the recognition of mental health needs dealt with by the community agency.
  • Meets agency's productivity standards for client service hours.
  • May participate in social work or psychology student affiliate programs for training professional social work and psychology students.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: A master's degree or equivalent (MSW, MA, Ph.D., PsyD, or MS) in
social work or psychology and clinical experience and/or training directly related to children and adolescent counseling. Current registration with a licensing board is required. Employee must have the ability to use a personal vehicle with the required insurance coverage to complete the essential duties of their job and conduct agency business. Employee must maintain a valid California driver's license and clean driving record that meets Wellnest's insurance carrier's criteria for liability coverage. In keeping with Company policy for all employees, the successful applicant must also complete a test for TB, and fingerprint clearance by the Department of Justice.

  • License with the CA Board of Psychology
  • If licensed in another state, a CA DHCS Professional Licensing Waiver to practice in CA. If there is less than a year left on the waiver, the applicant must show intent on being licensed in the State of CA.
  • A person with or in the process of obtaining a Psy.D. or Ph.D. and is unlicensed, CA DHCS Professional Licensing Waiver. If there is less than a year left on the waiver, the applicant must show intent on being licensed in the State of CA.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Employee may be asked to pursue additional training when it is determined to be in the best interest of Wellnest.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Employee regularly works out in the field and in an office environment. Employee may be required to work flexible, evening and/or weekend hours for time-sensitive projects.

  • Ability to use computer and remain in a stationary position up to 50% of the day.
  • Visual acuity, ability to adjust focus and peripheral vision for work on a laptop or other computer equipment.
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to use telephone, office copier, calculator, fax machine, computer printer and scanner, or other equipment as required.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
  • Annualized Salary Range: $70,716 to $94,475
  • This position is also eligible for an annual $5,000 bilingual Spanish differential
  • Wellnest offers $10,000/year to build a personalized health benefits package from a choice of available medical, dental, and vision coverage plans, as well as an employer-paid $50,000 life insurance policy.
  • Wellnest employees benefit from an employer-sponsored 401(k) company match, dollar for dollar, up to 4%, and a profit-sharing contribution benefit of up to 5%.
