To thrive as an Integration Engineer, you need a solid background in computer science, experience with system integration, and proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or C#. Familiarity with integration platforms (like MuleSoft, Dell Boomi, or Apache Camel), APIs, and relevant certifications is often required. Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong communication, and adaptability are vital soft skills in this role. These competencies ensure seamless connection of systems, effective troubleshooting, and smooth collaboration with cross-functional teams.

What are some common challenges Integration Engineers face when connecting disparate systems, and how are they typically addressed?

Integration Engineers often encounter challenges such as data format incompatibility, varying communication protocols, and legacy system limitations when connecting different software or hardware systems. To address these, they use middleware solutions, develop custom adapters, and leverage standardized APIs or integration platforms to ensure seamless data flow. Regular collaboration with software developers, IT staff, and business stakeholders is essential to understand system requirements and troubleshoot integration issues efficiently.

What are Integration Engineers?

Integration Engineers are IT professionals who specialize in connecting different software systems, applications, or technologies to ensure they work together seamlessly. Their responsibilities often include designing integration solutions, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining data flow between systems. Job description

About Goods & Services
Goods & Services is a product design and engineering company.

We solve mission-critical challenges for some of the world's largest enterprises, with deep expertise in highly regulated industries-including life sciences and financial services. Our design-led approach allows us to apply cutting-edge capabilities in AI, Data and Hardware Engineering to companies of any size.

Headquartered in the United States, we operate regional development centers in Mexico and the United Kingdom. This global footprint-anchored by our nearshore model-enables us to deliver at scale with the speed, efficiency, and cultural alignment our clients expect.

About the job
Goods & Services is looking for a Senior C# Backend Engineer with expertise in workflow orchestration, state management, and backend service design. Experienced in modernizing legacy systems, building reliable analyzer integrations, and delivering scalable, event-driven solutions.
Location: Loveland, Colorado.

What you'll do:

  • Develop and maintain analyzer workflow logic within the ECL platform, owning the backend processes that drive analyzer operations end-to-end
  • Implement and extend workflow orchestration - managing analyzer state transitions, operational sequencing, and runtime event handling
  • Collaborate with the Analyzer Integration Engineer on the communication layer between ECL and connected analyzers
  • Support the DCU modernization effort by identifying workflow logic that can be extracted and repackaged into shared .NET libraries
  • Work with QA to ensure workflow correctness and reliability across analyzer types and edge cases
  • Participate in knowledge transfer from departing Hydra resources to preserve continuity of analyzer workflow behavior.

What you'll need:

  • 5+ years of professional C# / .NET backend development experience
  • Experience building workflow or orchestration systems - state machines, process sequencing, or similar patterns
  • Solid understanding of backend service design and inter-service communication
  • Ability to work within and around legacy codebases without breaking production.
  • Collaborative approach to working alongside integration and infrastructure engineers.

Nice to have:

  • Exposure to medical device, laboratory, or instrument integration workflows
  • Familiarity with .NET Framework 4.x and modern .NET migration patterns
  • Experience with Azure Service Bus or event-driven messaging
  • Background picking up ownership of an inherited or underdocumented system
