Systems Engineer (TS/SCI) SOCOM / AFSOC RPA ROC Program

Location: Hurlburt Field Florida

Leidos is seeking a Systems Engineer to support the Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) Operations Center (ROC) program. This role is ideal for mid‑career engineers who want to apply their technical skills in a fast‑paced, operationally focused SOCOM environment where reliability, security, and mission readiness matter every day.

You’ll join a distributed engineering team responsible for designing, integrating, securing, and sustaining the IT backbone that supports AFSOC’s RPA enterprise. If you enjoy hands‑on engineering, modern virtualization technologies, and contributing directly to mission success, this role fits you well.

What You’ll Do

Systems Engineering & Integration

  • Engineer, integrate, test, and sustain DoD IT systems supporting AFSOC RPA ROC operations
  • Deploy and maintain VMware technologies (ESXi, vCenter, Horizon, vSAN, App Volumes)
  • Support and troubleshoot VDI environments across multiple sites
  • Assist administrators with Windows Server, Windows workstation, and Red Hat Linux configuration
  • Integrate new software capabilities into existing data center architectures
  • Work with container technologies such as Kubernetes
  • Support deployment of new hardware, software, and network capabilities
  • Troubleshoot system issues to restore baseline performance

Customer & Mission Engagement

  • Work directly with AFSOC/SOCOM customers to refine requirements and support operational needs
  • Participate in technical trade studies and provide recommendations for performance, lifecycle, and modernization
  • Conduct requirements, functional, and interface analysis

Testing, Documentation & Training

  • Develop and execute test plans to validate system functionality
  • Produce clear technical documentation, diagrams, O&M guides, and training materials
  • Train customer personnel and mentor junior engineers

Security & Compliance

  • Support ISSOs with RMF/ATO documentation, SSPs, POA&Ms, and cybersecurity artifacts
  • Ensure systems remain compliant with DoD cybersecurity policies and STIG requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • Security+ CE (IAT Level II)
  • Bachelors of Science Degree with 4–8 years of experience (or a Masters of Science Degree with 2–6 years), Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Hands‑on experience with VMware (ESXi, vCenter, Horizon, vSAN, App Volumes)
  • Experience supporting VDI environments
  • Proficiency with Windows Server, Windows workstation, and Red Hat Linux
  • Experience applying STIGs and supporting RMF/ATO documentation
  • Strong documentation and technical writing skills
  • Ability to work independently and within distributed teams
  • Willingness to support after‑hours mission needs
  • Up to 25% travel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting AFSOC, SOCOM, or special operations programs
  • Familiarity with RPA systems, C2 infrastructure, or operations centers
  • Experience with MECM, Trellix, certificate authorities
  • Kubernetes, Docker, or containerization experience
  • P2V migration experience
  • VMware certification (VCP)
  • Experience with DoD classified/unclassified networks
  • Vendor coordination experience
  • ISSO or cybersecurity background
  • AI/ML familiarity
  • Knowledge of NIST 800‑53, ICD 503, DISA STIGs
  • CI/CD or DevSecOps exposure
  • CASP+ or advanced certifications
