The main difference between an Integration Developer and a Software Engineer lies in their focus areas. Integration Developers specialize in connecting different systems and working with APIs and middleware, while Software Engineers develop complete software applications. Both roles require similar educational backgrounds, but their daily tasks and industry usage differ significantly.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Integration Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Integration Developer, you need strong programming skills (often in Java, Python, or similar languages), experience with APIs, and a solid understanding of data formats like XML and JSON, typically supported by a degree in computer science or related field. Familiarity with integration platforms (such as MuleSoft, Dell Boomi, or Apache Camel) and knowledge of cloud services and middleware systems are common technical requirements. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication are valuable soft skills that help manage complex integration projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams. These skills are vital to ensure seamless data flow, system interoperability, and the successful delivery of integration solutions in dynamic IT environments.

How does an Integration Developer typically collaborate with other teams during a large-scale system implementation?

Integration Developers play a key role in bridging gaps between different technical teams, such as software engineers, database administrators, and business analysts. During a large-scale system implementation, they work closely with these groups to understand data flows, define integration points, and ensure that various systems communicate seamlessly. Regular meetings, code reviews, and shared documentation are common practices to ensure alignment and address any integration challenges early on. Effective communication and a collaborative mindset are crucial for successfully delivering complex integration solutions.

What are Integration Developers?

Integration Developers are IT professionals who design, build, and maintain systems that allow different software applications to work together seamlessly. They create and manage APIs, middleware, and other integration solutions to ensure data flows smoothly between platforms within an organization. Their work helps automate business processes, enhance productivity, and support digital transformation efforts. Integration Developers often collaborate with software engineers, business analysts, and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver effective connectivity solutions.

We're looking for problem-solving, opportunity-finding teammates with a sense of urgency, who believe in the scale of our ambition and thrive on a path not fully paved โ€” people who want to grow their careers alongside a team of experts across energy, manufacturing, data center construction, and cloud services.

If you want to do the most meaningful work of your career, help our customers and partners advance their AI strategies, and be part of a high-performing team that believes in each other, come build with us at Crusoe.

About This Role

Weโ€™re seeking a Senior API Integration Engineer to serve as a strategic technical partner driving enterprise-wide digital transformation through intelligent automation and scalable system integrations. This role will lead the design and delivery of mission-critical integrations across our People Tech ecosystem while setting integration standards, mentoring engineers, and partnering closely with business leaders to modernize workflows at scale.

What Youโ€™ll Be Working On

  • Architecting and building enterprise-grade integrations using the Workato ONE platform to enable intelligent workflow automation

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining deep API integrations across a broad enterprise application stack spanning business-critical systems(ERP, CRM, etc.)

  • Leveraging AI-powered automation within Workato to improve efficiency, resiliency, and predictive process optimization

  • Establishing reusable integration architecture patterns, frameworks, and governance standards that scale across both human-led and automated workflows

  • Partnering with business and IT stakeholders to gather requirements, lead discovery sessions, assess ROI, and translate complex needs into scalable technical solutions

  • Leading integration initiatives end-to-end, from concept through deployment, including sprint execution, technical reviews, and delivery accountability

  • Providing senior-level escalation support, ensuring reliability, monitoring, alerting, and incident response for critical integrations

What Youโ€™ll Bring to the Team

  • 7+ years of experience as an API Developer or Integration Engineer in enterprise environments

  • 3+ years of hands-on production experience with Workato, ideally with Workato ONE

  • Deep expertise building and operating complex Workato recipes, including error handling, monitoring, batch processing, custom connectors, SDK development, and API collections

  • Interest in and exposure to AI-assisted development workflows and intelligent automation โ€” you don't need to be an expert, but you should be excited about where integration engineering is heading

  • Collaborating with internal software engineering teams to ensure integration patterns and API access are available for custom-built internal tools and automations

  • Proven experience integrating enterprise SaaS platforms across domains such as HCM, ERP, CRM, finance, or similar

  • Expert knowledge of enterprise integration best practices, EAI/SOA patterns, and iPaaS architectures

  • Proficiency with RESTful APIs, webhooks, JSON/XML, OAuth 2.0, SAML, SOAP, RBAC, and API security best practices

  • Experience with Agile/Scrum delivery, Jira/JSM, Confluence, and CI/CD workflows

  • Strong understanding of HR data models, compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, SOC 2), and secure handling of sensitive PII

Bonus Points

  • Workato Foundations or Integration Developer certifications

  • Experience with leading enterprise SaaS platforms and their native integration tooling

  • Experience with additional iPaaS platforms (e.g., MuleSoft, Boomi, Informatica)

  • Background in HR technology consulting or HRIS implementations

  • General experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), IaC tools, or identity and SSO integrations

  • Experience in high-growth or highly regulated environments

Benefits:

  • Competitive compensation and equity packages

  • Restricted Stock Units

  • Paid time off, paid holidays & leave of absence programs

  • Comprehensive health, dental & vision insurance

  • Employer contributions to HSA account

  • Paid parental leave

  • Paid life insurance, short-term and long-term disability

  • Professional development & tuition reimbursement

  • 401(k) Retirement plan with company match up to 4% of salary
