Job description

Program: Franklin | 1122 Franklin Avenue, Bronx, NY 10456
Position Overview:
HELP USA is in search of an Intake Supervisor who will assume complete accountability for managing one of our shelter sites during designated work shifts, as well as when director-level Social Service or Safety staff are unavailable. This operational oversight primarily encompasses evening, night, and weekend shifts. The Intake Supervisor will serve as the initial point of contact for new clients, guiding them through the intake process.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Entering client data into DHS' CARES database
  • Participating in bed counts alongside Safety personnel, ensuring the accuracy of client information in CARES, and reporting census counts to IVC (Intake Vacancy Control).
  • Supervising and/or aiding in the coordination of daily intakes, bed assignments, and associated client service tasks.
  • Supervising subordinate staff.
  • Collaborating closely with external entities to facilitate language access.
  • Ensuring the provision of optimal customer service to clients.
  • Handling community relations and liaising with relevant authorities as necessary.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulations as stipulated by NYS DHS, NYS OTDA, NYC FDNY, NYC Dept. of Health, NYC Coalition for the Homeless, etc., including incident reporting, logbook entries, bed checks, client belongings, security, and client care.
  • In the event of insufficient staffing, assume direct service/program responsibilities in addition to the above.
  • Collaborating with DHS PD to guarantee the daily security and safety of the facility.

Requirements:
  • Obtain FDNY F-80 certification within 3 months, enabling emergency response, crisis management, first aid, CPR, and fire response as necessary.
  • High School Diploma or GED is a prerequisite; an associate or bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications is mandatory.
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in residential facility settings.
  • Capability to obtain and uphold First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

Compensation
Actual compensation will not be less than the applicable minimum wage, prevailing wage, or exempt salary requirements under federal, state and local laws.
