Job description

Intake Paralegal:

Working under close supervision with required assistance readily available, and following standard operating procedures and guidelines, performs the following tasks.

  • Compiles and prepares supporting documentation for use by claim review attorneys in discovery/preparation of claims processing in system of record (CMS).
  • Ensure all incoming correspondence reviewed for completeness ensuring file documents match claimant and Personally Identifiable Information (PII) compliance prior to CMS upload.
  • Combine claimant documentation and ensure all relevant and supplemental documents, amendments and other transcripts via CMS document type are included in the file. Ensure all required document fields have been filled out by the claimant.
  • Maintains case files, indexes, tracks, and controls electronic and hard copy case files for claim review attorney.
  • Performs simple legal research via CPC tool, MML and CORA.
  • Reviews PII Reports, Data Discrepancies and hard copy claim forms for relevance and privilege according to established guidelines, criteria and categories.
  • Other examples of the types of work to be performed include collecting, compiling, and sorting documents to ensure a file is complete and free from PII. (File Request, SMO Correspondence, Appeal Transcripts, Hearing Exhibits)

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain MRPT facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for MRPT facility credentials/authorization at this work location
  • Requires paralegal certificate, JD, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study. One year of legal training or legal experience or at least two years of college education may be substituted for the paralegal certificate. Additionally, at least one year of litigation paralegal experience or project experience (as related to the task order) is required
  • Demonstrated ability to work alone (with supervisory support) or in a team environment following Intake SOP
  • Familiarity with common office software, including Microsoft ("MS")Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint, MS SharePoint,Adobe Acrobat, and Google Chrome
  • Must have excellent writing skills and oral communication capabilities.

*Employees will earn H&W dollars per eligible hour (including vacation and holiday up to 40 hours/week). H&W monies are used to offset the employer's cost of benefits the employee elects into and/or utilizes. Any remaining health and welfare monies after all applicable deductions would be cashed out to the employee on a 1 pay period lag.

Service Contract Act (SCA) Compensation & Benefits:

This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position that falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA). In accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act. The amount you are entitled to receive will vary depending upon the fringe benefits you select now and in the future.
