This role is an opportunity to be at the forefront of building a best-in-class, integrated, digital-led P&C Insurance business within a leading financial services brand - focused on deepening relationships with our >7MM small business clients.
As a Senior Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer & Community Bank Small Business team, you will lead engineering teams to build AI-native solutions from the ground up-embedding AI coding tools, agentic workflows, and LLM-powered capabilities into every layer of the platform-while transforming team culture to operate with speed and experimentation as AI tooling evolves. Your exceptional communication and influencing abilities will foster productive relationships with executive stakeholders, ensuring alignment, effective risk management, and high-confidence operational delivery.
Job responsibilities
  • Drive the technical strategy and delivery of a new digital insurance platform, embedding AI-native capabilities (agentic workflows, LLM-powered features) into core product experiences
  • Responsible for directing and managing all aspects of technology delivery
  • Leads multiple technology implementations across departments to achieve firmwide technology objectives
  • Directly manages multiple areas with strategic transactional focus
  • Acts as the primary interface with senior leaders, stakeholders, and executives, driving consensus across competing objectives
  • Manage multiple stakeholders, complex projects, and large cross-product collaborations
  • Influences peer leaders and senior stakeholders across the business, product, and technology teams

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Proven track record using AI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, etc.) to accelerate development cycles, and ability to coach teams to adopt these tools as standard practice
  • Experience designing and deploying agentic systems (e.g., LLM-powered agents, multi-step reasoning workflows, tool-using AI) in production environments
  • Drives adoption of an AI-augmented engineering culture-setting standards, running experiments, and building team confidence as tooling and best practices evolve in real time
  • Experience building and leading engineering for digital insurance platforms, including policy management, quoting, servicing, carrier integrations, and agency management tools
  • Deep expertise in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability for commercially used digital platforms web and/or mobile
  • Deep expertise in building and operating large scale high performance digital applications (web and/or mobile) with distributed systems and cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.)
  • Deep expertise with enterprise design patterns and industry best practices with experience using modern technologies and design patterns (e.g., micro services, APIs, etc.)
  • Experience with building, leading and mentoring technology teams, and next level leaders within the organization
  • Experience with implementing industry standard cybersecurity & technology controls
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with ability to influence key stakeholders across cross functional teams
  • Strong organizational and management skills

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Experience leading engineering culture transformation initiatives, particularly driving adoption of AI tooling, new development workflows, or technical practice changes across distributed teams
  • Preferred experience with specific cloud providers (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) beyond the required expertise
