Job description

Risk Engineer

HDI Global Insurance Company is a commercial property and casualty insurer headquartered in Chicago, IL. We are a wholly owned subsidiary of HDI Global SE, which manages the industrial lines division of the Talanx Group. Our broad and flexible portfolio of products and services combined with our international network of local insurers in more than 150 countries, provide us the ability to offer a wide range of domestic and global insurance solutions for U.S. based multinational companies.

We are hiring a Risk Engineer who will deliver advanced risk assessment solutions for internal and external stakeholders (loss prevention, natural hazards, employee safety, facility maintenance, business continuation, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough on-site risk assessments and operations reviews to verify our customers' or prospect customer's risk mitigation approaches and to provide customers with risk improvement solutions.
  • Generate detailed risk assessment reports in a timely manner to relay conditions and provide recommendations using proprietary tools and systems.
  • Collaborate with underwriting team on risk quality and exposure of existing accounts and new business, to achieve preferred risk selection.
  • Deliver risk engineering consultation to our customers in the form of insurance risk surveys, risk improvement recommendations, loss mitigation proposals and specifications.
  • Manage account risk portfolio and provide account level engineering to meet underwriting requirements. Build and maintain strong account relationships to drive partnership and engagement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in Property Risk Engineering (field and account engineering).
  • Strong understanding of property insurance and risk management for a broad range of commercial businesses.
  • Team player, with strong business sense, communication skills and client service mindset.
  • Experience in account engineering or managing risk engineering service vendors preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office products).
  • Ability to travel (up to 20%).

The salary range for this role will be $100,000 to $130,000 per year plus eligibility for a performance based bonus.
