Job description

KEY OBJECTIVE
This person will be supporting our Canadian underwriting operations. The PCRE professional operates within the Chubb Risk Consulting  Department and is considered an integral component of our value-added services for commercial insurance policyholders. The position will report to the VP, Canadian Regional Risk Engineering Manager supporting mainly the Quebec Region along with periodic travel across the country and potentially outside the country (i.e. U.S.). Travel required ranges between 25-50% throughout as business needs warrant. The position requires overnight travel, approximately 1-2 nights per month. Outside of local and regional client engagement travel, this is a "work from home" position.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Provide an understanding of a client's operations to our underwriting team through Risk Assessments. 
    Counsel clients on best practices related to their existing operations and programs. 
    Assist clients with identifying hazards within their facilities and, as appropriate, provide recommendations for improved practices. 
    Provide Chubb's risk engineering consulting services to meet client needs and/or improve the accounts loss history (i.e. business continuation planning, employee safety training, safety committee support, product safety review and evaluate building fire protection systems). 
    On-site visits with existing and prospective customers will be conducted, and comprehensive reports will be completed that evaluate hazards and controls for adequate risk selection, pricing, and application of underwriting techniques that will lead to profitable growth. 
    Scheduling client visits, processing client correspondence and inquiries, conducting risk assessments in person and virtually, completing reports, and following up on recommendations. 
    Coordinating with claims and underwriting partners to ensure service expectations are exceeded and consistently support satisfactory risk selection and client retention.
 

    5 to 7 years of experience in property, casualty, and auto/transportation risk assessments, insurance risk management and loss prevention functions, focusing on evaluating hazards and controls for a variety of industries / risk such as manufacturing, food, life sciences, natural resources, energy, construction, etc.
    Proficiency and knowledge in fire protection and construction codes and standards such as NFPA, FM Global, etc., hazard identification skills, emphasizing Property, General Liability, Product Liability, & Auto / Transportation exposures.
    A consultative and client centric service mindset providing solutions and services to mitigate risks and exposures. 
    Represent Chubb Risk Consulting in client meetings, industry forums, professional associations, etc.
    Excellent communication skills in English and French, both written and oral
    Proficient interviewing techniques and technical report writing ability.
    Initiative, effective time management, and ability to function both independently and collaboratively as an integral team member.
    Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat. A working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is preferred.
    Valid Driver's license and passport and the ability to travel in the U.S. and Canada
    Bilingualism (French & English) is considered necessary.
    Bachelor's degree in a field focused on Engineering, Science, Safety & Health, or relative work experience in the risk control/loss control field.
    Possessing relevant professional designations or certifications such as ASP, CSP, CRSP, ARM, CRM, CIP, P. Eng, C.E.T. are desirable but not required.
