Job description

Location: Position will be originating in the Biehle, MO location.

Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications, plus the opportunity to grow into the General Manager position. This hire is made with that expectation. We offer health, life, dental, vision and disability insurance programs along with a 401-K program. Future adjustments to salary will be based upon performance.

Job Description: Direct report to Dave Danker, Agricultural Division President. You will manage all labor and production people at the Biehle and McBride locations (McBride is a harvest only facility). You will be responsible for managing the logistics and grading piece of our fescue buying operations, both locally and remote. You will assist the Sales and Nutrition Manager(s) with employee support in their sales, delivery and quality control efforts. They will be responsible for managing these programs and you will be responsible for managing the labor necessary to make these things happen.

  • Develop a knowledge base in grain merchandising and help coordinate the implementation and daily activities of a customer contact program with emphasis on Target Contract Offers and basic grain origination. We expect you to be an active participant in the weekly grain marketing meetings and to do your part in talking to customers about grain origination whenever you come in contact with them and to seek them out when possible.
  • Coordinate and manage the activities of our feed milling, grain handling, small package production and seed processing with particular emphasis on improving pellet quality, overall product quality and grain quality.
  • Responsible for the Division Safety Program and to facilitate communication between our Division and the Corporate Safety and Loss Prevention Staff. You will have the Grain Operations and Maintenance Operations Manager reporting directly to you. You will be expected to conduct the necessary safety meetings and to make sure that all of our Ag Division Employees have access to the Safety Videos and Safety Training Information that is available to them via our Checklists and the Snap Shot program.
  • Responsible for continuing to develop operational excellence in the areas of efficiency and quality control throughout the Division.
  • Directly supervise the activities of all Biehle employees with the exception of the Maintenance staff who are under the direct control of the Maintenance Operations Manager. The Maintenance Operations Manager will report directly to you.
  • Promote our sales efforts in the areas of Agronomy, Grain Merchandising, Grass Seed, Animal Feeds, Veterinary Supplies and Retail Store Support.
  • Prepare overall strategic plans for growth of the Agricultural Division in cooperation with the President and Executive Vice-President of the Division.
  • Assist in the harvest workload and be directly responsible for the quality and condition of all of our grains, grass seeds, products and feed ingredients that flow through the operation.
  • We feel that personal contact at harvest is extremely valuable. We want you to be visible during these times. Additional hours will be required to manage the harvest flow.

  • Lower Feed Mill utilities costs by 25% per ton in the next two years.
  • Continue to achieve quality control recognition at the State and Federal Level. Reduce our Stop Sales in both Feed and Seed by 50% in the next two years.
  • Work to expand our Wholesale, Small Bag (Jug) Program and Casual Feed Program by 25% in the next year.
  • Reduce our Work Comp claims by 50% next year and each year following. Goal is zero claims.
