Job description

The Compute Control Plane team in Oracle's Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) organization is seeking a Principal Technical Program Manager  to join our fast growing team in Nashville! 

The OCI Compute Control Plane team is at the center of many of OCI's most critical business goals. We are challenged with scaling our services to meet growing demand, delivering critical features for our customers to help them manage their Compute instances, and delivering support for new HW platforms. We support both Bare Metal and Virtual machine instances across a diverse fleet of HW, including clustered GPU platforms. In addition, our customers demand high availability and security from our Cloud. We need a program leader who can thrive in ambiguity, work on complex, critical programs involving dozens of teams, build strong relationships with stakeholders and partner teams, and drive our teams to solve problems with significant business impact. We seek someone who can inspire others, and explain the "why" behind every project and every priority call.  

This role will have focus areas in our Compute metering and also power management spaces. The role will involve contributing to the strategic vision, setting near-term roadmap items, executing on delivery in an efficient manner, cultivating a culture of high standards for quality and delivery, and growing the team. The successful hire will have the ability to understand and coordinate deeply technical work, is able to communicate clearly up to and including executive-level leadership, is adept at cross-organization problem solving, can organize complex work across multiple teams, and thrives in a high-impact, fast-paced environment.  

This is a highly visible and impactful role based in Nashville, TN. You will be co-located with key leadership to maximize collaboration, accelerate delivery, and support OCI's strategic growth initiatives.  

Note that this role is onsite in our downtown Nashville offices and Oracle is now 5 days in the office.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $102,300 to $209,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Responsibilities 

Program Leadership: Own planning, execution, and delivery for complex OCI Compute programs spanning multiple engineering teams and partner organizations. Drive programs from problem definition through launch, adoption, and operational readiness. 

Execution & Delivery: Define milestones, dependencies, risks, decision points, and success metrics. Ensure teams have clear plans, measurable deliverables, and the right mechanisms to identify and correct execution gaps early. 

Cross-Team Coordination: Act as the connective tissue across Compute engineering, product, operations, capacity, security, finance, and other OCI partner teams. Build alignment across upstream and downstream dependencies and drive ambiguous or stalled issues to resolution. 

Technical Program Management: Develop strong technical depth in OCI Compute systems, cloud infrastructure, distributed services, automation, and operational workflows to understand tradeoffs, challenge assumptions, and represent execution realities accurately. 

Roadmap & Strategy: Partner with engineering and product leadership to shape program roadmaps, sequencing, and prioritization for Compute initiatives. Translate strategic goals into executable plans across teams. 

Operational Excellence: Drive programs that improve service reliability, availability, scalability, efficiency, and operational maturity. Ensure launches include readiness reviews, support models, risk mitigation, incident learnings, and durable follow-through. 

Executive Communication: Serve as a clear spokesperson for program status, risks, tradeoffs, and roadmap progress at the division level. Prepare crisp written updates, reviews, and decision documents for Director, Senior Director, and VP audiences. 

Influence & Problem Solving: Independently identify division-wide execution risks, process gaps, and organizational inefficiencies. Bring the right stakeholders together, make tradeoffs explicit, and drive decisions without relying on formal authority. 

Qualifications 

Program Leadership Experience: 6-10+ years total experience with 5+ years of relevant technical program management, engineering program management, product operations, or equivalent experience, ideally in cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, or large-scale service environments. 

Technical Depth: Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, cloud infrastructure, service operations, distributed systems, automation, and production readiness. Ability to engage credibly with senior engineers and engineering leaders. 

Cross-Functional Execution: Proven ability to lead complex programs across multiple teams with competing priorities, unclear ownership, and significant dependencies. 

Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to represent program status, risks, tradeoffs, and roadmap plans clearly to senior leadership. 

Judgment & Independence: Demonstrated ability to operate independently, identify when escalation is needed, make conscious tradeoffs, and drive corrective action in complex technical environments. 

Influence Without Authority: Strong relationship-building skills and a track record of aligning engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders around shared outcomes. 

Operational Mindset: Experience driving reliability, scale, efficiency, launch readiness, incident follow-up, or process improvements for production services. 

Education: BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Program management certifications are helpful but not required.
