Property Claims Technical Specialist

To serve as the technical expert and resource in all aspects related to property claim estimating. To monitor, review, and approve property claim estimates above identified threshold during the adjustment process. To proactively conduct estimate reviews to improve indemnity accuracy, reduce leakage, track trends, improve consistency, and improve the customer experience. To establish, implement, and maintain estimating guidelines, best practices, and targeted training based on industry standards as to sketching, scope, and estimating. To provide input and feedback to management as to meaningful training needs and curriculum, performance monitoring, and indemnity improvement of staff. To assist in the identification, testing, and implementation of new technology designed to improve the adjustment process, ease of doing business, and customer experience.

Achieve estimating and operational objectives by contributing information and analysis to strategic plans and reviews. Prepare and complete action plans. Implement technical requirements and training to attain quality and customer-service standards. Identify and resolve operational and technical problems. Complete estimate reviews. Determine system improvements and implement change.

Develop and direct the property claim estimate training and estimate review program to ensure quality claims handling. Determine proper and consistent usage of sketching, scoping, and computerized estimating techniques and processes to ensure compliance to company guidelines, procedures, and state insurance regulations. Report results to the property claim management.

Research, develop, implement, and monitor estimate training programs that will result in the improvement and consistent application of Xactimate (computerized estimating software) to reduce errors and improve leakage. Train in and share knowledge of XactAnalysis usage with management through unit meetings, classroom training, re-inspections, ride-a-longs, and virtual estimating teaching and assistance. Follow and instruct in Estimating Guidelines/Best Practices.

Required
Bachelor's degree required.

Five to seven years in property claims and estimating required.

Experience using property estimating systems, scoping, insurance contracts, and construction practices required.

Certification in Xactimate Level III and Trainer required, or must be completed within two years of hire.

Must have access to high-speed broad band internet at home.

Must possess a valid driver license with an acceptable driving record.

Preferred

Formal education with emphasis on insurance or business administration preferred.

Completion of, or current enrollment in, insurance coursework such as AIC or CPCU preferred.

One to three years of training experience with exposure to large loss handling preferred.
