Overview
The Akron, OH office of Lewis Brisbois, a full-service AmLaw 100 firm, is actively seeking a seasoned, Partner-level Insurance Coverage Attorney specializing in first-party commercial property to join our thriving, nationally recognized practice. Because the incoming partner will step into an established, high-volume practice, a portable book of business is not required.
Lewis Brisbois is a recognized leader in the area of insurance coverage and claims. Our Insurance Coverage Practice focuses on interpreting contracts of all kinds and representing insurers in complex coverage claims. Such representation includes monitoring, mediations, arbitrations, and declaratory relief litigation in state and federal courts throughout the United States. The firm represents primary and excess insurers, reinsurers, third-party administrators, managing general agents, insurance brokers and agents, and independent adjustment companies. Collectively, our attorneys have experience in virtually every line of business.

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
  • National Practice Management: Lead and manage first-party commercial property coverage matters on a national scale.
  • Complex Claims Evaluation: Analyze high-value commercial property losses, including large-scale fire losses, casualty events, business interruption, and commercial dishonesty claims.
  • Fact-Finding & Investigations: Oversee and participate in complex arson and fraud investigations.
  • Examinations Under Oath: Regularly conduct detailed Examinations Under Oath (EUOs) of insureds and key witnesses.
  • Litigation & Trial Work: Drive strategic coverage litigation from inception through trial, actively representing carriers in federal and state courts.

Qualifications
  • Experience: 8+ years of dedicated insurance coverage experience, with a heavy emphasis on first-party commercial property.
  • Career Level: Current Partner or Senior Counsel with clear partner-level capabilities, seasoned judgment, and the ability to independently command a complex caseload.
  • Core Skills: Proven track record in coverage litigation, conducting EUOs, managing investigations, and trial preparation or first-chair trial experience.
  • Bar Admission: Active license in good standing in Ohio. Multi-state admissions are a plus.
